I think the question isn’t just how much did Hall Help Hischier but how much did Hischier help Hall?
As Nico gets bigger and stronger, he’s going to improve. He got pushed around a lot but was still so impressive. |

They both drive the defense back. The opposing team has to watch both of them at the same time which is why whoever plays on the Hall/Nico line will benefit by being open. |

Especially considering the roster hasn't changed all that much, my biggest "ask" of the team going into this year is for them to give Nico and Butcher more ice time. I think both were relatively sheltered (Butcher more-so) last year, understandably as rookies, but I think they're the type of players who will blossom with a larger role. |

I would like them split. Hall is a tremendous rushing winger who generates offense by himself. Hisch is a terrific playmaker who would benefit with guys like palms/Mojo to set up. Hall doesn't need much talent surrounding him to succeed. Proved that in Edmonton. |

Nico is a stud. Sandwiched between McDavid and Matthews, quietly dangling his way through Jersey. Drooling over what he's gonna be doing in 3 years |

From what I understand and read, the articles saying he knows the fan base so much and wishes the team was, not in his words, more popular since they were one of the best during his years.
So I think he will try to spread the Devils logo around to get the team a bigger, more popular fan base. If that will be his role, its gonna be huge. |

There have been 10 guys who wore #30 for the franchise, including Chad Erickson in ‘92 who played 2 games(1 win, 1 loss and gave up 9 goals on 55 shots).
I don’t really care either but it’s nice to see the franchise have some tie to the halcyon days. I’m more desperate for them too bring back #4 (Scott Stevens not Jamie Huscroft) to run a proper defense.

Perfect role for Marty, can be involved in the organization but isn't a coach or GM where he risks ruining his legacy among fans and/or sticking around too long because nobody will fire him, ala John MacLean, Sakic and Roy at times in Colorado. |

MOJO ,Butcher , Severson , Mueller , Coleman and Wood are the keys for this year .
If they can step up.we will be fine . If not we are in trouble.
Could use another RW. mix it up...
Hall-Nico- Bratt
Mojo- zacha -Palmieri
Coleman -zajac -Noesen
Quenneville -Boyle - Wood

Mojo - Zajac - Anderson
Wood - Zacha - Noesen

I agree that the performance of those listed will make or break the season. Speers and or Anderson may slot in at RW..

We sure could use another RW. Palms is great, and I agree he should not play on Halls line to aid in balancing scoring. I love that 2nd line combo. Wood should be promoted to 3rd line, maybe even L1 if Palms is paired with Zacha, as I would prefer him to Bratt. Really hoping Joey Anderson can jump into the league in a meaningful capacity. Otherwise Nick Shore is a talented and fast young (25) UFA that is listed as Centre, but shoots right. He would be a great bottom 6 addition in my opinion.

Karlsson traded yet? lol. what an offseason - MartysBetter88
It was a very boring offseason, at least it's almost over.
No real news other than Marty for weeks, which has little to do with the new team itself, and there isn't a much of anything to look forward to in camp. Biggest excitement is if and who of Anderson/Q/Mcleod/Speers will make the team, and maybe getting a few flashes of what Smith "may" look like soon. I can't even find the date they are all showing up in Newark for camp. I guess we may have been spoiled with all the past moves, but this seems like an unusually low profile year. |
