Todd Cordell: On the 3rd pairing and Taylor Hall - Todd.Cordell
Really Hoping Mueller can step up his game and take Greene out of the top 4. On a positive note, the addition of Vats and Butch last season totally changed this team, and Shero might have another card up his sleeve |

what stinks is neither Mirco or Santini are able to be partnered with an experienced mobile dman. So you're left with 2 young guys learning the NHL game at the same time on the same pair.. which can't be great for their individual development. |

There is NO CHANCE Greene is out of the top 4 on this team and until something happens we should all expect him on the top line next to Vats.
I'd be impressed if Mueller can establish himself consistently on the second pairing. He's taking Moore's spot and while Mirco lacks offense he'll be a little better then John defensively.

Well hopefully Shero can do something, bc Greene sure looked a step behind this past season. Great vision and leadership, but needs less TOI and high caliber competition. |

There are still many unsigned RFA... Shero is waiting for them to sign so he can get a trade with one of them. Hes got the patience of a saint and it will pay off. He is so far from stupid, have faith! Especially if teams are in a hurry to get under the cap when season starts, he'll be able to get a steal of a deal, again. |

That’s for sure, but I’m not seeing Mueller as the answer. Im waiting for Mirco to get comfortable and confident because I think he’s better than he’s shown. We’ll see. |

I bet Shero has a binder of the other teams salary obligations and what the RFA's of those teams are expected to receive(amognst other valuable info we have no knowledge of) He knows who will be available for cheap. I dont know if any teams are over the cap but certainly teams do want breathing room for emergency and the bottom teams that still kinda suck, looking at you Detroit, shouldnt have high payrolls if they arent competing.
Also, Marco had a great hockey summer, I know he'll carry that over. I'm sure it did wonders for his confidence. |

Hey Jabroni,
You throw that link on the Devils thread but Devils arent on your page.
PS, sorry for calling you a Jabroni. |

The problem with Devils the last couple of years is that we have "question mark players" for the same position/role. Let's take a look:
1. Larsson and Severson - Lots of potential upside but they're not truly top pairing d-men. In the end, the Devils traded Larsson for Hall. We're still questioning Severson but at least it's only 1 defenseman now.
2. Henrique and Zajac - Centers but where do they play in the line-up. Neither is truly a 1st line center, but they both can play 2nd but they really should be slotted for 3rd. Devils trade Henrique for a true top pairing d-man.
3. Zacha and McLeod - Both are highly talented but lack consistency. You can slot them as 2nd or 3rd line centers but we're not sure. The reality is that one of them has to be traded.
4. Wood and Bratt - Can they be consistent? That's the question with the 2 of them and what line should they really be playing on the left side.
5. Mueller and Santini - Again, what do we really have. Flashes of solid play with terrible play. Will they get it. |

Well, there was that one season Paul Martin and David Hale came up from the AHL together and were the 3rd pairing. It wasn't so much of an issue being that Rafalski-Stevens and Neidermayer-White were your first to two pairs, but there is precedent.
That said, Shero needs to trade for a top-4 D-man. Get it done. |

I wonder where that top 4 stacks up against best top 4s of all time. Pre eye injury White was a solid defensive dman. |
