Baertschi was the one signing I didn't like this year but as Lefty said you deal the cards your dealt..
Sutter is currently about a 35 pt guy if healthy . I think he could easily increase by 10 more points with better favorable starts and more ice time
I think Jake will also jump from a 20 pt guy to 30 -40
I am hoping also for the two young Swedes . - VANTEL
With more favourable starts and a player that makes others better probably but no he's not allowed to play more.
Baertschi Bo Boeser
Virtanen Pettersson Eriksson
Leipsic Sutter Gagner
Schaller Beagle Roussel
Yes I managed to get Eriksson and Gagner in the line up without forgetting they have signed contracts. |

I expect Sutter's line will get the 2nd most minutes and Beagles the third most minutes....
Everyone has different definitions of lines. - belcherbd
Starts with numbers means nothing. Each & every game & shift & deployment is the reality. Zone starts etc will be TG’s MO. |

I think what you are saying is you believe deployment is the most significant factor when judging which line is considered 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc.
If that's your point, does that make the lines who get mostly the offensive starts the first line and the defensive starts the 4th line? |

@Vintsy
Ok, so using your specific examples, I believe he has once again put the wrong people in the position to succeed. I don’t believe Sutter is capable of carrying an offensive (top 6) line, and now he has compounded the problem by bringing in Beagle (two very similar players). We weren’t winning with Dorset, why will we win with Rousel? The whole notion of remaining competitive is the problem with his plan. Dowd was a stop gap because of injuries, how many games did he play? Not enough to ever consider him a Canuck for histories sake
Vintage
Who did you want to play at second line center? Sutter is the most qualified . Everyone knows he is a good third line center , so how do you fill the hole until Pettersson is ready? - VANTEL
I’m sure there are plenty of ways it could have been accomplished, but here is one alternative that I would have preferred.
If they were going to have to overpay anyway, I would have rather they overpaid a more offensive player. Say what you want but Tyler Bozak has shown he is capable of a supporting offensive role. I would have offered him a 2 year deal, 5 ish mil per. I would have kept Sutter as the Shutdown guy and I would have signed someone to challenge Gaudette for a 4th line C role. Someone that could easily be sent to Utica because they are on a one way contract.
This gives your young offensive top 9 forwards a better opportunity to realize success, and it allows a player like Pettersson to grow into the role as a C, if that’s ultimately where he is going to play.
Or, I would have gone hard after Spezza from Dallas to see what I could get, or get rid of...Eriksson... for one year of Spezza.
Basically, I would have looked for the best offensive C Incould find on the shortest deal possible. |

How you have gagner anywhere but utica ill never know - mauryballstein
6th on the team for forwards in scoring last season, 3 players ahead of him are now gone.
Where will Van get scoring from? Demoting the 6th highest scoring player from last season is the perfect start. |

I would have liked to have done the same thing with the defense. Take de haan and luke schenn and then deal tanev and gudbrnason. |

If you mean Hughes going back to college, it was his decision not the Canucks. |

He is horrible. You can waive him and no one will claim him. Id rather him in utica then goldobin getting picked up on waivers.
You have to think too that lots of our young players have not been given good enough oppurtunity |

I think it is best. I dont want to see him ruined like other prospects. If they wanted him on the team just another reason to hate this group. |

Means o zone starts for scoring & d zone for shutdown. Game situations can vary who TG likes when & why. |

If we made trades then De Haan. Schenn is a waste of time & rather play D from within |

He clearly has no interest in playing in the AHL. I think it will work out well, and even a bit more likely were a bubble team while he's still on ELC. |
