I mean... the guy didn't even yell FORE... ha.

Anyway, really hope the Hawks arent pursuing him.

Another reason would be to make sure a guy like Delia contiues to get games in at the AHL level. Hawks can also see what they have in Lankinen.

If you bring another goalie in, you immediately make Forsberg your starting IceHogs tender.

I'm sure Forsberg ends up in the minors at some point this year but the more games for those other 2 in Rockford the bette

IF he clears waivers....

The problem with signing Ward as back-up is if Crawford is good to go, I doubt they would carry three goalies and give a Forsberg - what - 10 games - and no development time.

Or - they have to put him on waivers and hope he gets through.

I think what the Hawks liked about Ward was his ability to stay cool ... he does not get too high or too down. That kind of stable attitude in goal can radiate down to the team in front of him. Its not all just about numbers

Mr. P is going to be depressed.

One thought though, wasn't this amount per year pretty close to what Hossa's cap hit was.

So good news Mr. P. - I'm saying there's chance.

(sorry, not going to go search for the Jim caray dumb and dumber gif)

Is it possible that the Blackhawks are not truly expecting CC to play this season, and indeed their goalie tandem is going to be Ward/Forsberg?

I’m very worried after hearing Craws comments, for the team and for his own personal well-being.

I know we don’t know that Crawford’s ailment is due to head injury, but it seems strongly implied. I am personally very uneasy about the evidence surrounding the long term effects of head injuries in sports. I love the game of hockey so much, but if athletes are truly seeing long term health effects from these collisions which seems to be the case, I do feel somewhat conflicted about supporting the sport. This won’t cause me to stop watching, but I really hope the league starts making a legitimate effort towards reducing the number of head injuries in the game.

It’s time to stand up for civility and rational discourse - here and in the land in general.

There is so little of it in the public arena.

- StLBravesFan

I can agree with that.

Go civility.

That's the exact characteristic that Crow possessed!

No. If Crawford can’t start they go with Ward/Forsberg. Mason would be no better.
- DarthKane

If they knew Crow couldn't go at all or very little, I would have liked Mason, knowing he would be the #1. However, if Crow plays a majority, then Ward would have been better pick up for that role. Either Forsberg is waiting in the wings!

I'm guessing Hinostroza gets 60 points this year.

I'll be contrarian and go with 20 pts. and a long spell in Tucson.

60 pts. suggests he has finishing ability...

...a quality he's not shown.

I was watching a recording from CSN of last night’s Convention and they said Crawford has been under the care of the league’s medical team not the Blackhawks medical team.

Now that seems really strange to me!

Was it Boyle or someone else? A poster here said earlier that Boyle and Kaplan said it was Corey's own, personal doctors.

They probably shouldn't have said anything at all, anyway.

Not trolling but can one of you remind me of how many cups the hawks have won?? oh and the last year that occurred. Note: I'm getting ready for the start of the season and I figured I would get a refresher...

It was Boyle, I could be wrong but sure sounded like he said league doctors. That’s also was the closed captioned interpretation. Either way it seems strange. Obviously someone doesn’t trust the Blackhawks team doctors and after the Bickell fiasco I can hardly blame them.

Seriously????

Because you think MS is so easy to diagnose??

Oh that's right - you are a doctor and you would have known that's what was wrong.......

And everyone here needs to stop with all the Crawford speculation.

You don't know what's going on - and you never will.

He is entitled to privacy in this matter - so just let it go already!!!!!!

It was def. Boyle and he clearly stated that Cory had been off on his own and the league doctors had been in touch with him and not the Hawks. Yet here the Hawks have been claiming all along that Crawford's fine and ready to go. There were some other interesting comments made during that half hour show in particular by Jammer who appeared completely caught off guard as did the rest of the panel that Crawford still wasn't ready to play and dealing with a very serious issue. If I find the video I'll post, but I haven't seen it on NBC Sports Chicago's website.

Meanwhile If you'll recall the concussion situation between Havlat and the Hawks. The Hawks sure didn't look good on that one...

In the presser they were having before the start of the convention -
Q had 15 minutes prior said that he expected that Cory would be ready to go to start camp and then Cory got to the podium and dead stop.

No matter how you slice it - the optics look bad for team McD on this one.

Um we have every right to speculate on anything or anyone we want. But thanks anyway for trying to tell us what we can or can’t do.

Thanks much, and yikes - hadn't seen these re: Havlat. Have been very unimpressed with how McD handles a crisis. His team may be great at the rah-rah and fan engagement, but they flail a lot in negative PR situations.

I know we all hope Crawford recovers from whatever his medical problems are but to me the Hawks aren’t doing him or themselves any favors by being so vague about when and if he’s coming back. If there still is so much uncertainty wouldn’t it be better just to put him on LTIR. I know they have to wait until game 1 in order to get the cap relief but if that where their plans are could they just state their intentions now instead of all the back and forth that’s going on now.

Agree. IMO a McDonut decision that is financial in nature -- keep the STH's in the dark along with everyone else but mainly the advertisers and media. Hawks season last year gets flushed down the toilet after Crawford goes out and a washed up vet gets signed with the commentary that Crawford will be ready.

Then Crawford comes out at the Convention to say he HOPES he'll be back soon. If I was a STH and had relied on the brass' assurances that Crawford was fine -- or an advertiser that just placed 1,000's of $ of ads based on the Hawks being "back," I'd be pretty damn pissed off.

You are right about STHs.

Anyone who watched that interview with CC and thinks he's going to be on the ice for one minute this year is kidding themselves.

That's not a person physically or mentally about to play midget hockey let alone NHL and lead a team to the playoffs.

There is something very wrong with him. I'm not a doctor, I don't play one on TV, (although I do stay at HI Expresses a lot), and I'm not invading his privacy.

I'm looking at it from a fan of the team, and now I'm curious do they use LTIR or what is the move and how does it effect the team going forward.

And one last comment, no way that the Hawks front office didn't know this all along, and if it was hidden to "fool" ticket holders, that chicken will come home to roost.

Wonder if any reporter has the balls to follow up on that story, or simply just as the question of Stan, Q, and McD - "after interviewing Corey at the convention, it would seem to almost anybody who saw it, that he is not anywhere close to be able to go, what are your plans to deal with it both player wise and cap wise"

I think that as long as the current front office is in place, any beat reporter that investigates this further will get blacklisted by the Hawks brass. Another season in the basement, miss the playoffs and multiple heads will roll. Then we can all get back in to the UC at a reasonable price (red font).
