I have not seen Brassard in the rumour mill once anywhere. Unless someone like Jordy Bellerive comes into camp and forces his way into the team Brassard will be a Penguin next year and maybe even sign a 2 or 3 year deal beyond this coming season depending on how things go. There is no great organizational need right now but if they trade Brassard they will require a centre and those are in short supply. |

I can't remember who... I think it was Dreger, but he said the Pens were absolutely listening to offers for Brass at the draft. Of course, listening doesn't mean soliciting so take it for what it's worth.
The interview that Brass gave after the season didn't leave much doubt that he's not enthralled with the 3rd line C role and he won't be signing a 2 or 3 year extension. He'd be entering the decline of his career looking for another contract. It makes no business sense for him to do that. He'll be walking for nothing if he's still here at the end of next season. |

Any thoughts on Brassard + Maatta for Trouba + (Dano or Perreault)? |
|
|
|
I believe the above post is correct, I believe Dreger mentioned that Brass was available at the draft.
There were also a lot of rumors about MTL going after JJ as well so maybe GMJR was bidding against someone, but it still stinks imo |

I think WPG would want more. |

I agree and disagree because I don’t think Trouba is even on the table for WPG but I agree it would probably take more. I think they would’ve kept Myers had they re-signed Stastny but since they missed out I bet Myers is gone and Trouba gets paid. No more log jam on the right side for WPG and they’ll recoup assets for unloading Myers |

Assuming Brassard has a decent season he's gonna want 7 million plus and I can't see how we can afford that
It's this season or bust with Brassard unless JR wants to flip him to a center needy team for assets we can use longer term |

It doesn’t make sense to pay so much for him only to trade him away and have no one to replace him. |

It depends on what happens, if it’s a good fit and he likes playing in Pitts then you never know. It could be a disaster too. I don’t think we saw what he could really do. |

The Aussie troll formula:
1. Identify a semi-abrasive take that is grounded in minimal to zero logic
2. Die on that hill
3. Throw a bunch of emojis at the wall and see what sticks
4. Throw out the winky emoji at people he successfully bates to see if he can get a further reaction
5. Repeat |

She-man can play 3C, Culldog & Blueger have been identified as 4C also.
If JR can get a good return I think he takes it, unless Brassard is playing the house down making it hard for him to trade him. In that scenario he's probably at the highest value as well so...
He traded Reaves after paying a fair price to get him - some say a 1st rounder. |

And the JJ bashing continues...
I wonder if he plays well (like Fleury did) Will the tone change?
Even if he gets Top 4 minutes and does well I don't expect much praise. |

I heard a friend in the organization said if Brassard did well this season. They would approach him with an extension, but if the two sides couldn't come close then he would be used as a top asset at the trade deadline. As a side note there are a few sources saying Columbus is working hard to trade Panarin. He is probably the only person I would trade the farm for. I could see him pushing us well over the top. |

I doubt we would be in the ballpark unless a couple of our prospects suddenly became NHL players. Other teams would put together a lot better options in my opinion. I hate (read that as love) Panarin, he kills us nearly every game he plays against us.
Brassard won't get traded........ |

I can't see Brassard staying in Pitt long term. 2C pay is more than 3C pay.
I think he is the piece to move to help somewhere else. |
