They only need to unload people if they plan on having a defense. They could likely go with the same subpar D lineup like last season. In the end, it is going to hurt them. Honestly their best move would be to try and move one of their young guys for Karlsson.
The way I see it. Nylander Marner and Matthews will likely get somewhere between 6-8 million each. They all finished in the 60-70 point range and given the fact Couture was given 8 mill a year for similar production. It is not unreasonable for that.
"Now that we know the free agency plan, and where John Taveras ended up, does Fenton have any trades lined up that can acquire the impact players the Wild so desperately need?
Nylander? Kapanen? Toronto needs defense..."
While Toronto does need a shake up on the defense, the main change would be a right hand defenceman. The only D-man that TO would have interest in is Dumba. I doubt that the Wild are willing to trade him.

This season is going to blow dogs for quarters! 2 more seasons til Seattle hits the ice, can't wait. Sick of putting all my time and money on one team that just keeps beating a dead horse

You can split it between two teams that beat a dead horse.
