I have a question - Why do we think Nylander and Marner are going to get huge contracts? In comparison you have Marchessault who's scored 30 goals last season and 27 this year. 75 points.
Marner has 19 goals and 22 goals in the same span. Nylander has about the same. Pointswise Marner is closer this year with 69.
Marchessault got 6 years and 30 million. Why can't we expect Nylander to take the same? It's not like he's had an amazing playoffs either.
Marner possibly closer to 6.5 or 7. - Aaron_85
I'm guessing that's because Marchessault had a career year at 27 years old while the other two can still bank on "buying potentially greater production" being in their early twenties. |

if we miss out on Tavares; which at this point would be like missing the toilet bowl while pinching a loaf, we could move Nylander to center;
Hyman - Matthews - Marner
Marleau - Nylander - Kapanen
Johnsson - Kadri - Brown
Grundstrom - Moore/Aaltonen - (insert UFA signing here) |

Interesting idea
Gardiner(1 year)+ for Faulk (2 years)
Then, with Jack Johnsons financial issues, give him a 1 year 6 million dollar deal.
Rielly-Faulk
Dermott-Zaitzev
Johnson-Hainsey
You get an upgrade over Gardiner, plus a year of Johnson to hold us over for Liljegren and friends

His innocent questions do sting though.
"Why isn't Montreal playing?"
"Why aren't they good"?
"Why do we not cheer for a good team"?

He's still a good D, can do some good things.
He's not a top pairing D, but he can kill penalties and would improve the bottom pairing a ton. |

I checked ages after I posted. I'm unsure how it still adds millions more. I bet Nylander is offered the same deal. |

No on JvR, and De Haan is a left-handed D-man, we need RHD. Other than that, I agree we need to trade Gardiner. - PatC80
Also, you know, De Hann sucks. |

for $4M a season, we can't get players that suck... We need players, that, you know, don't suck.. We don't need Rick Nash's or Andrew Shaw's. |

Why did you need to rent a townhouse for a bachelor party? |

It was a bad trade 8 months after it was made.
We traded what turned out to be a number 1C...which every team covets....and we needed for almost a decade.
Then a year after that.....the other 1st turned out to be what would be a top end D....which is what every team covets....and we need right now.
Like I said...two mid to late round 1st and 2nd for player to put you over the top is a decent deal...but none of the above occurred. None.
Instead Boston won a cup with Seguin.
Leafs did nothing....and accomplished nothing. - Fakepartofme

the point is the actual deal...not what it was suppose to be or should have been.
Its the actual deal.
A top 2 pick, a top 10 pick and the 32nd pick.
In return we got a great scorer but nothing else. - Fakepartofme

Easier than renting 6 hotel rooms and had a lot more room than if we did. It was just outside of downtown and a cheap uber ride away. Plus there was, how do I put this delicatel...more room for activities (let the jokes flow :lol |
