See, there is this misconception that he’s a bruiser, or tough, or worse yet - tough to play against. He is “Big” in a Tom Hanks kind of way I guess... - 1970vintage
When the refs put the whistles away, he could likely be a nice depth guy. I'm not trying to say he can defend, but he does play physical and is large. |
|
|
|
Yeah he's overpaid in a few situations for sure but in EG's case the contract was a 'redeem yourself" "show me what you can do without an injury riddled year"...and really, hes pretty much in the same position again this year.
I mean the guy gets hurt while relaxing..... - Brooks_Light
The best JB will do is a grade B prospect and a mid round pick.
Everyone will lose their sh1t, and JB loses his job.

The TDL determines his job future IMO. If he moves EG and Vanek for a reasonable return liek he did with Burr/hansen last year I think they'll re-sign Benning - neem55
From what I remember Hamhuis and Vrbata situations were tough bcus they both had NTC and the teams that they agreed to be traded too were trying to fleece JB big time, now i've heard varying stories about it all, and i'm sure commoners like us will never know the whole truth behind it all But by standing pat that year and not accepting horrible deals, he managed to get Goldobin, and the 4th, which I believe became, Gunnersson & Palmu and Dahlen out of Burrows and Hanson, which is pretty incredible.
If they do re-sign Guddy, there must be a backup plan to trade some other Dman. |

But he doesn’t really, he “gets hit” as much as he hits, and he’s constantly out of position. Anyway, none of it matters, he will either get traded, or he will sign an extension, and we the fans will female dog about both. |

Montreal has three 2nd rounders, send them EG and be done with it. MB would likely pay that much and is delusional enough to think they can make the playoffs. - neem55
Hopefully for Josh Brook
Montreal is in a worse spot than the Canucks though so I doubt they make that sort of move. |

I believe that there were literally no teams interested in Verbata for any price |

MTL has already said they are sellers. Not a suitable parter. If I had to guess, he is traded to the Islanders. |

I'm only going to complain about one, personally I think it's best for both parties if he moves on. He doesn't have any trade protection, should be able to make a move. I agree not getting low-balled has likely made JB have more credit, so has being able to get good value (I'm sure rival GM's respect getting good value). I hope he gets two draftpicks or prospects for Vanek and EG, I'll be happy if this happens. |

Just like E Kane and the Canucks, why would Montreal give up anything for a guy they could have for cash in the off season. |

I would agree if Bergevin wasn't the GM. It's too bad we don't have any french players |

I would be super happy with an extra 2nd, an extra 3rd and a promising D prospect |

Yeah I doubt the Habs are looking to get rid of picks and that franchise is in shambles. Realistically, I think the Islanders or Leafs need something like Guddy and have an extra 2nd rounder to part with. Cut our loss and move on. I don't think its the end of the world or Jims job tho. |

It’s more common sense than logic, plus Montreal is giving the Canucks a 1st and Galchenyuk for the twins... |

Refs should have let them go...Getzloaf would have hung in there I bet... |

Makes a lot of sense. Could also see the Jackets (especially if they trade Johnson) and really a lot of teams looking for depth (Boston, San Jose, Toronto, maybe even Peg with all their injuries) |

Kypreos and MacLean believe Toronto may be looking for a defensive forward, we have a couple.
They can't take on another contract as they are maxed out at 50, how about we take on Martin and a 2nd, we give up one of our "defensive" forwards, like Granlund?😁 |

Than we have a top 10 pick and much more likely end up with a d-man drafted. |

How about anyone but Martin and his awful, awful contract/ability. I'd rather have Bozak, and that is saying something(cause Bozak is not good either).
Don't hate the idea other than that, but Martin's contract is one of the worst in hockey IMO. |

be kind of nice to end the year looking like an improved team, I could see it happening too. But still hoping for that top5 pick! All we need is for them to play around .500 hockey over the last 30 and we should get a nice pick. |
