So the plan is to re-sign Gudbranson. He turned down 4 years 18M from the Panthers.

He'll command between 5-6M for at least 3 years with a NTC.

JB signed him to a 1 year "show me deal", he's shown he can't stay healthy.

They'll sign him to a Loui Eriksson type deal

- VanHockeyGuy

I doubt he will be able to, after missing big chunks of the last 2 seasons.

Gudbranson's camp has the power here, give him the deal he want's or he walks.

He's missed more games than he's played since joining the Canucks - from a negotiating standpoint i don't think he has much of a leg to stand on....or a back (spasm) to lean on???

There's no way anyone in their right mind would give him that much, I've always said he's like Brenden Dillon who makes 3.27 million a year. If they pay him more than the 3.5 million he's getting they're idiots!!

Roman Polak makes 1.1 million by the way

He can high ball the Canucks, worst case scenario he explore's the FA market.

He's in a good position.

Accurate. His numbers and injuries definitely don't put him in a position of power. Stock is at an all-time low in terms of what he will make as a UFA and in terms of trade value IMO.

So what, his market value changed, people know what he is now, and that's not a 5 plus million dollar player.

Trade him for a 2nd round pick and Benning will drive him the airport himself.

This whole Erik Gudbranson thing, along with the Eriksson signing, is going to do in Benning. He's done his job drafting but I think he's done.

Bob McKenzie seems to think there's a good market for him with the interest he's generating.

Speaking of Phoenix, WTF happened to Max Domi? He has three goals this year after 18 as a rookie.

He knocked out Kesler. It's all downhill after that

With all the talk of insulating the sedins I think Gaudette would probably play well with them. He is like a Burrows or Hansen type. Can chip in with offense and cover for them defensively.
- mauryballstein

Why bring back players that you have to insulate?

I don't see whats so good about it.

He can highball us all he wants - then he either A)gets laughed at B) his asking price makes it justified to trade and move on, or C) realizes that he's in the same position as last year, due to injuries has to accept a reasonable offer, from us or thru FA.

Trade value is different that what I'm talking about, I'm talking about signing value. Sure there's probably a bunch of teams that are willing to trade and give up assets for him because he's big, essentially the same reasons Benning wanted to get him. But we all know what a mistake in the end that was. Let the other teams find out too.

The TDL determines his job future IMO. If he moves EG and Vanek for a reasonable return liek he did with Burr/hansen last year I think they'll re-sign Benning

I thought the PP was boring. I finally found a way to enjoy Canucks hockey . I tape it then fast forward the game for two of the lines and watch the other two lines in real time.

I must be a bad fan.

- VANTEL

THE PP’s at the end of 2 and start of 3 were full of great chances

Teams have professional scouts, EG will not be overvalued IMO. Even as a UFA I don't see too much of a lineup for a guy who has played so few games so poorly over the past two seasons. If he was healthy, some teams might be willing to overlook his numbers. He has similar value to Alzner but lower because much more injury problems IMO he'll be lucky to get 4 mil. I agree he makes sense as a rental for a team going into the playoffs, where having a big bruiser like him can be a big benefit.

Yeah he's overpaid in a few situations for sure but in EG's case the contract was a 'redeem yourself" "show me what you can do without an injury riddled year"...and really, hes pretty much in the same position again this year.

I mean the guy gets hurt while relaxing.....

See, there is this misconception that he’s a bruiser, or tough, or worse yet - tough to play against. He is “Big” in a Tom Hanks kind of way I guess...

Montreal has three 2nd rounders, send them EG and be done with it. MB would likely pay that much and is delusional enough to think they can make the playoffs.
