Hamhuis MG NTC signing Vrbata was an Aho & both made life difficult on JB. Vanek is a wait & see.

Summary: its ALL on MG & for JB to dig out from his legacy & the mess left behind. Whether JB is around to see what his efforts come to is debatable.

What's on Mike Gillis? That they're finishing at the bottom of the league? I don't think that's an issue, at least it isn't for me, that's what I want. My issues are the execution of their rebuild, not that they are rebuilding, which I think is true for a lot of fans.

I don't disagree with that, I love last years draft, but those guys I mentioned from the Leafs were all NHL players except Brown I think. Just not quite there yet but hope those kids are the real deal.

If we didn't loose Horvat, Sutter and Tanev for so many games, I expect we would have been a bubble team. This current healthy roster is probably going to play .500 hockey for the rest of the season if it stays intact. TDL will probably fix that and tank harder hopefully.

IMO if all goes to plan they'll be a much improved team in the 2019/2020 season.

Honestly they had an excellent draft last year picking 5th overall in the first round and had an additional pick in the second round. They don't need to pick first overall to much improve their future. It'd be nice. But it's having a successful draft top to bottom that's more important.

Asset management, they NEED to add more picks by trading Vanek or Gudbranson.
