It's almost impossible to run 2 great franchises into the ground in fantasy and Chiapet has done it at the highest level of hockey twice in less than 10 years .... Sad really |

Your blog of deceit is terrible.
Chiarelli had to trade Eberle for cap space for both this year and next. Only someone blinded to cap reality can suggest otherwise. Eberle was struggling in Edmonton and had a horrendous playoffs to say the least.
Winger depth is the least important thing on the team and also our biggest strength for prospects. It also has not been the teams biggest or most pressing reasons for failure either.
Russell has been solid this year and worth his cap hit. With Sekera injured signing Russell was pretty simple and straight forward. Certainly better than dropping assets like Calgary did for Harmonic.
I didn't hear or read a single hockey pundit predict the Oilers would miss the playoffs.
Pretending you knew otherwise to support your rhetoric is embarrassing. |

If the Oil really needed to shed Eberle's salary to pay McJesus and Uncle Leon they were certainly not under pressure last summer. Fast forward to this coming summer, sure, maybe. No need to feel pressured last summer to make another horribly lobsided trade. I still can't believe that at the very least they didn't get a draft pick or prospect back in addition.
Did they have to rush to sign Russell too? Again, probably not. Definitely not for that kind of money. 5-7 pairing defenders are everywhere. Heck, Cody Franson is on waivers and makes 1 mill.
Sorry, Chia blew it. Just like he blew the Hall trade. Signing Lucic with the saved dollars after made that even worse. He should be fired and banished from the NHL the day the Oilers are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. Edmonton fans can only hope. |

At least Calgary got a real top 4 NHL defender. You traded Barzal for Reinhart that never play in the NHL lol

Hall, Barzal, Eberle would be a deadly top line if you still have it. Oh well, only the Oilers have that kinda luxury to trade them all away lol.
Now back to the cycle: finish in the basement, draft high pick this summer, trade them away later, never ending story and once again we will be talking about the Oilers this summer. |

Oh man Aerchon where to even start. Chia did not have to trade Eberle for cap space this season. The team has almost 8 million in cap space right now. Sure Eberle had a bad season from a shooting percentage standpoint which was much lower than his average and surprise surprise he is producing at his normal rate again. I had no problem with dealing Eberle if they replaced the 22+ goals a year he is good for... they didn't come close. Strome is a plug and nothing suggested he was of equal value.
Russell is a 5/6 defenseman. If the team was so worried about cap why sign a 5/6 guy to top 4 moneg The fact that he is leading d men in points is less of a pat on the back and more a damning statement on the Oilers D.
It's people like you who blindly follow the rhetoric the Oilers management dishes out that drive me absolutely crazy. |

|
Oh and your statement about our great winger prospect depth. Sure if the team can wait another 2 or more years sure Benson who is finally playing healthy and Yamamoto who is having an average season might be able to crack the roster as a third line player. |

I think Oilers fan must agree with a Draisaitl for Connor Brown trade so they can save some cap space. |
