I like to look at comparables. Feelings to players don't matter.

Only real comparable I could find from last year was Brendan Smith. He's 3 years older and was a UFA. 5 points in 33 games with Detroit. Doesn't really play with the same physical edge as Guds.

He went for a 2nd in 17 and 3rd in 18.

Depending on who Van is trading with and if you have to take some salary back or if like Toronto they have max amount of contracts.

2- 2nds wouldn't surprise me or a 2nd and a prospect. Depending if there is a conditional if the team makes a conference final, and Guds plays 50% of the games, Van gets a 1st instead.

I am not sure McCann would even be a top 4 center on Canucks . We needed toughness and to move players from the front of the net
