Weird blog.

I don’t know why the NHL gave so much time before and after the Sweden trek. The time change is not that drastic and players deal with a 3 hour time shift on a regular basis anyway. Just makes the rest of the year tight and forced to have lots of back to backs.

I don’t know what the NHL is trying to accomplish by having regular season games in Sweden, but if you are going to do it, do it at the start of the year to avoid prolonged breaks which just alienate your existing fan base. 2 games in 2 weeks essentially? This football?

Jared, you should have made a blog about Don Cherry’s rant about the Sens needing to move downtown and if they don’t they are moving to Quebec because Boucher is French and Dorion and Duchene have French sounding names. You’d get lots more action. Hilarious stuff.

*reported this by accident*

Eh, they made it pretty far with Turris last year.

Anything can happen.

Agreed completely. I was fuming listening to Cherry. I don't usually pay any attention to what he's saying, but that really drove me nuts.

I've been to a few games this year, and to be quite honest, it's not rocket science why ticket sales are low. People are getting sick of Melnyk's constant raising of prices. A king can of beer is now $12. Parking is now $25. The travel really isn't an issue for me, as I live 10 mins away, but I can see how it would grow to be a nuisance. Add in the fact that there's very little corporate dollars in the city, you're asking people to dish out $150-300 for a pair of tickets (bought on secondary markets), pay $25 for parking, $100 + in concessions.

Many fans can afford to do this once or twice a season, but dishing out $500 a night gets a little steep for the average fan.

In fairness, those four cup winning teams were powerhouses, and top contenders in their respective years. Except maybe LA. Was that the year they snuck into the playoffs and pulled the ultimate upset? Or was that the other year?

I stopped listening to anything he has to say years ago, when he stopped being able to both start and finish at least two complete sentences in his five minutes of air time.

A whole bunch of teams are having trouble selling tickets...even the habs are not selling out! I have friends that are season ticket holders for the habs and have trouble selling them at half the price this year!!

I'm a STH for the Sens and don't have any issues selling the games I can't make...and I don't lose money either on the ones I sell!
Parking is $20 this year at the CTC, up from $15 a year ago...

The 6 hour time difference doesn't seem like a lot but it is. Having travelled to Stockholm from Ottawa, it was the worst jet lag I've ever felt (and I've travelled much farther). Yes, the Sens players may be used to the travel, but not the jet lag. It's not very often that Eastern Conf teams cross time zones (nothing like the West). And they only do the West coast trips twice a year, not enough to get used to it.

I am glad the NHL gave them ample adjustment time. I am sure that the Sens agreed contingent on this being the case, especially important with the most back-to-backs in the NHL.

Fair enough point. Not sure it takes guys 4-5 days to adjust though. If they made the trip at the start of the year like they usually do, there wouldn't be a noticeable gap at the start, just after the games were played.

I get they are trying to grow the game and everything and it's fun for Swedes to see Karlsson and Landescog live, but just seemed like an odd set up.

Don Cherry is a bumpkin, a relic of the ignorant past . His attitude and outlooks are inevitably soon to be extinct. Its like watching the dinosaurs disappear while being broadcasted live........ for that matter throw in Bob Cole, if he does indeed still broadcast
