Actually, it could be a really good series. The Leafs might not be quite ready this year.

The reality that D'Oops can't face is that the Leafs are still very early into the process, with the core being very young and are clearly on an upswing. The Sens were gifted with every possible break, couldn't get it done, and the underlying problems are all pretty clear to everyone.

That sad, wheezing, gurgling last breath that escapes the body in its final moments of life. It is a good reminder of how fragile we all are. Some are more so than others.

Sometimes it's preceded by what's called agonal breathing. The breaths are very laboured and gasping, but despite the tiny bit of air movement it is not a good situation. The body is diverting all of its energy into the most basic biologic functions, trying to cling desperately to life in its final feeble moments as it circles the drain into sweet oblivion.

Montreal's roster currently without Weber reads as a who's who of "who the (frank) is that?" and yet Ottawa only managed to score a single goal against them en route to their 7th loss in 9 games. Not a good situation. But at least they won't lose any playoff games this year.

In other Atlantic division action, the Leafs had a day to reflect on that non effort they put forward against their likely 1st round playoff opponent. That game was unacceptable and tonight is a good chance for them to try and atone for it.

Tampa should roll into Edmonton tonight and female dog slap them up and down the ice all night long.

The Edmonton McDavids came out to play. I was way wrong on that prediction. I'm not looking forward to the increasing possibility of a Leafs/Lightning 1st round match up.

Tampa has a Vezina calibre goalie, 2 Art Ross/Rocket Richard capable forwards and a legitimate Norris level D man (not just some guy who scores points and is listed as a D man). I don't think the Leafs can contend with all that over a 7 game series yet.

TSN did their weekly power rankings. They ranked the Sens ahead of the Leafs again. Perhaps they did not get the memo.
