Nevermind them, they're saying JVR is worth 7 mill and Marleau is a way more complete player. - the_eye
Marleau is the anti - Lupul or anti - Devon Travis. Shows up, plays solid. 27 goals playing on a third line - on a team that was 19th in goals scored.

Like I said, Leafs won't pay it cause he's not worth it.
Just cause there are idiot GM's doesn't make it so. - the_eye
Leafs can't really pay it, not long term anyway, but JVR is worth it.
If Marleau was 28, he would be worth a lot more than $7m x 8 yr because he IS a better player than JVR. You can't compare a 38yr old's deal with a 28 year old's deal.
Marleau got 3 at $6.25 because of his age, plain and simple. |

So....the Leafs would trade a veteran center and leave themselves short in the middle in order to acquire a defenceman who struggles even in a top 4 roll? This is the same Larry Brooks who pondered the idea that the Leafs might be willing to trade Mitch Marner for Ryan McDonagh. I think perhaps it would be wise to ignore anything coming from good ole Larry!!! |

Ya, totally dumb rumor.
We have depth on the wings, not in the middle.
Besides, I think Bozak should stay. He's finally at the perfect position for his ability, 3rd C. |

Most likely candidate on Calgary would be Tyler Myers. But he's 2 years away from UFA. - winsix

Don't think any of the Rangers players or coaches like him either. |

Agreed.
Bozak and JVR both make us better this year, I don't care how much depth we have on the wings.

Bottom line, leafs need to trade out about $2M in salary to get brown signed for training camp.
At least one of Lupul, bozak, jvr or komarov are the likely to go.
I’d guess both jvr and lupul.

It's the 1-year left on his contract that makes the options limiting.
A contender is going to wait until the deadline so the cap hit is as low as possible and being a contender, they probably don't need the scoring depth during the regular season unless somebody goes down with a long-term injury.
A middling/rebuilding team might be interested to get them into the dance, but chances are they don't have the NHL-ready depth to offer us anything worthwhile or are offering us assets that don't make us better now (picks or prospects). |

The #NHLJets have signed Brandon Tanev to a one-year contract with an AAV of $700,000. MORE INFO > http://wpgjets.co/2ubrXfF
Now the Nucks can trade older Tanev to the Jets for Laine and 2 firsts. |

I agree, which isn't the worst thing for the Leafs. They got 2 seconds for Polak, JVR and Bozak are both worth more than Polak.

No Marner, Nylander and JVR is definitely better than a lot of those guys on that list. |

maybe nashville needs a scoring winger sooner rather than later.
Hartnell won’t replace neal’s goal-scoring.

Very few teams would take lupul right now. Vegas has Miller and could add salary, but we might have to throw in a prospect in that deal even though Miller is not that great. The teams mentioned by that bonehead Berger are Calgary and Colorado. For a guy like Hamilton a lot more would have to be included. An I'm not crazy about Barrie. |

Can't see a match with Nashville. They have three RHD, Ryan Ellis, PK Subban and Yannick Weber. I don't think Weber pushes the needle. Ellis would but doubt he's available and PK doesn't fit salary wise.
