How so ? A one dimensional player who contributes on the pp and not at es and has extreme deficiencies on defense ? I get it ghost has a better shot and speed But he may never get that speed back. And there is no guarantee he will ever even be as good as streit so you ate right in that regard they are ridiculous streit was an all star and captain

His skating was as good as it ever was by the end of the season. You can quit pushing the false narrative about whether he will "get that speed back."

Was our small winning streak where he had a few pp points enough to make you believe his skating was back and he was blazing by people like he was a year ago ? That's naive imo. His stats improved on offense but he still was not moving and cutting like he used to. Now Jake took over a full year to skate again so it's possible that continues but he has to better. How many times did he shoot right into the opposing team for a break away ? How many times did he get dominated in front his net and on the boards ? He's a liability every time he's on the ice just as likely to be scored on as score.

Flyers front loaded the deal, so if they do need to trade him, he'll be a more appealing target for small market teams

As someone who was in favor of a bridge deal I have to say the deal is way better than the non-bridge contract I feared he would get.

It's a good deal and if there's not an NMC/NTC attached to it, it's even better.*

*calm down, frankers, I'm not advocating/lobbying for movement, but should the need/opportunity arise the contract is not a problem.

we just need to do 8 x 6.5 for provy before that

Actually wouldn't love that cap. He won't score enough on PP2 to get that money off his ELC. Even on his next deal in his late 20s what could he cost? Would he really exceed that value and cost much more on his 3rd deal? Points are money. We will see what a guy like Vlasic gets soon. Think it may be best to give him that Ghost/Coots special. Takes him to age 27-28. Then take him to mid 30s instead of late 30s. Also that 6 year window could be best chance to compete.

We are in a curious situation where our defense could suppress each other's value.

Looked fine in September too with no training. I honestly didn't think his skating was affected like Giroux. People just overrate his speed, and it fit a narrative to explain his struggles.

Negadelphia is alive and well in regards to Ghost signing. Some people act like Hextall had to throw out a number and Ghost and his agent had to accept it. It wasn't arbitration dummies. It is fair on both ends.
Every player will have up and down years. I'm pretty sure Ghostibhere will be fine and more than earn that contract.

Why is that other teams are constantly getting steal contracts meanwhile we give every player market value or above? Bellemare weal schenn Jake all over paid ? Why is it wrong to want our front office to not just say oh well we have the cap so frank it and grow a pair and negotiate hard.

I don't think this contract is bad at all. God forbid you pay a player market value. How many teams also have bad contracts on the books?
