Yup but entitlement does not fly with me. Sink or swim in the pros idc.
Its not a practice league & here today & gone tomorrow. - Nighthawk
But with some players I think you need to show some restraint. Youth and inexperience comes with perils so you have to be willing to ride out the storms and continue to show confidence in that player. I think you need to give the players that show the most promise a bit more leeway than the fringe guys. |

Lefty mentioned WD's unprofessionalism the other day.
I would think Linden's response "it's the coach's decision, even if we don't agree with it" is even less professional.
Serious disconnect between the coach and management. - golfingsince
We all know management speaks thru the side of their mouths all the time.
Its rare that any speak out & when they do the media takes it to stupid levels.
So its avoided at all costs. Players use rehearsed statements, coaches used veiled dialogue, management sound like politicians & rarely speak honestly. |

I also liked that he said he didnt want to send him back to Utica because he's been there already and has done well. No point sending him back to his comfort zone if youre trying to develop him - WhiteLie
I'd like to see Utica make the playoffs. It would be good for Jake and Demko. They are in tough and Goblin would likely push them over the edge. Goblin to Utica asap please |

I'll go out on a limb....
JV can play before Goldy no matter what. He can do other things that Goldy cannot or will not. That said at this juncture neither is NHL ready til their game is NHL ready. JV IMO is further along but work to do yet. - Nighthawk
There's no question JV can add more to a team without adding much offence. However, Goldobin can add serious offence if he puts it all together. He has also produced much more at the AHL level. It will be interesting to see what happens over the summer. |

It was pretty obvious.
The hysteria was ridiculous.........once again. - Marwood
Hysteria in here or on MSM? What does it matter now? Feelings will be mended over summer and the upcoming training camp is the only thing that matters. Show up for that ready to go and I'll be happy. Come into training camp looking like a bag of poop and then I'll ramp up the hysteria.
To do it now is a waste of energy. |

That, or just keep stockpiling assets and let them all fight their asses off for spots on the team once they turn pro. Nothing motivates a player more than competition, especially if the competition is actually decent. Anyone who doesn't rise up to the challenge probably isn't someone you want on the team anyway.
It's why I'm perfectly fine with having logjams at positions, I say load up everywhere with as many extra picks/prospects as you can. None of that "omg but there aren't enough spots for all the young guys to play!"
That's BS, make them earn it.
I find it funny that the same people who are tired of the "country club" mentality are the same ones who want to gift young players spots, if you want a hungry team then it starts internally. Let the these guys fight amongst themselves and the cream will rise to the top. |

The Comets AHL games are more emotional/important than the Canucks tanking games, I'd be fine with seeing him in the AHL playing in crucial games that matter. |

I think JV is further along if he's going to be bottom 6 winger, he's got the body, has speed and is physical. There is lots of work to do if he is to be top 6 or offensive top 9 |

Yes & Goldy is nowhere close to a top 6 or at best he is looking at top 9.
JV is top 9 before Goldy is at this time. |

Leeway doesn't seem to be the case unless they show enough hockey IQ to compensate for lack of execution. |

Big difference between wanting young players to play at the end of the year when the games are meaningless and wanting these young players on the roster at the start of the year. The Sedin's should be limited to 12-15 minutes a night right now. If Willie won't play Goblin then send him to Utica asap

Somewhat.
I think JV was lazy off the ice too. I partially agree with DCT, he needs the right linemates. However, if he needs to play with somebody so specific to be effective then he's far more of a project then we even think. - golfingsince
Didn't San Jose have better play makers for him to play with and yet he couldn't fit in there? |
