Uhm not sure how any of that improves scoring. Sounds like a plan to tank the year for draft picks. - Nuck4U

Disagree with that one, don't think he has the same level of offensive talent/IQ, but that's just my opinion of course.
Makar is a tough one, so skilled, but not afraid to get his nose dirty either, despite his size. - Nucker101
Tippett more like James Neal then ? |

Maybe, don't think he has the natural mean streak Neal does though and I'm not super high on Tippett compared to some people. |

I'm all about picking C's. They can play wing if needed.
Other than a Laine type draftee idc about picking wingers generally.
For me a good C is smart & can play in all situations.
High offensive skills & a work ethic to match it. |

I am not super high on him either. Despite looking like a 12 year old, I think if we fall out of the top 2 (almost garunteed) I think we need to grab one of Middlestadt or Villardi. |

have you seen him play in person? Tippet is a rough little ba&tard. Lives around the net, not scared of the corners, plays in both ends. But his offensive IQ is instinctual. He's this years Tkachuk
As for Neal and a mean streak??? I don't know if one fight a season constitutes that a "mean streak"

You're right, the Canucks are still not that deep at wing.
I'm not a huge Rodin fan, but I'd bring him back just for the competition(assuming he wants to be back). So assuming the 4 centers next year are Henrik, Horvat, Sutter, and 1 of Caput/Gaunce/Shore. And with Daniel, Eriksson, Baertschi, Granlund all locks to make the team. You have 4 winger spots open and the following guys competing for those spots:
Boeser
Virtanen
Goldobin
Molino
1 of Chaput/Gaunce
Megna(lol)
Boucher(RFA)
Rodin(?)
Dorsett(could be finished though)
Pretty weak competition - Nucker101
I didn't think Shore was a lock? I actually would have had Gaunce ahead of him seeing he creates more chances. He doesn't finnish but neither has Shore.
Canucks do have a wild card in MacEwen and yes he is an overage prospect but those that have watched him are very curious about his game at the pro level and say maybe there is a chance. He is big wide fast and hits very hard.
I expect Boeser and Molino to make the team next year from what I have seen ,and the rest are all maybes .
I do expect a very active summer from Canucks , you can't sell this crap but seeing the two anchors are still here I think the big turn around will be the following year. |

MacEwen is a super intetesting prospect. He plays like an Ovechkin lite. Power forward, insane snap shot from in close, hard to stop when hes at full speed. I think he is a lock for Utica but it wouldn't surprise me if we saw him next year if we get injuries.

I might be the minority here, but I have never seen any offensive upside in Labate. He kind of just seems like a younger/more energetic Dorsett. I think it's great that hes been able to come into the line up and run around hitting guys, but I kind of want more from him. Still time for him to get that though |

I like what he brings but agree...can't be a Gaunce situation where he doesn't score for 600 games. |

In what sense? Multiple trades? I, personally, wouldn't be trying to sell anything to the fans, I'd be trying to build through the draft before I did anything else.
The Aquilini family is worth about three billion dollars, they don't need to make profits from the team, they've made enough money in franchise equity/value. If they truly wanna win they need to be patient with the process of building. To date they've never had to do that, the team had it when they bought it from McCaw. |

Shore was a desperation signing cause they had no more guys to bring up. They don't want JV here. They want Comets to make playoffs as well. JB just trying anything and everything. Which is good to see. Maybe something he throws against the wall will stick.
MacEwen looks big and skilled. If anything the Comets look a lot better next year. Certainly not the Canucks.
I ran the simulator 29 times. Thats how long it took to get 1st overall
What we need to do is win a lottery where there are generational player involved. oh wait, never mind.
I guess theres always 2018 and Dahlin. |

They need ticket sales this summer, anything short of a high blue chip (top 3) draft pick, or blockbuster trade will result in the growing apathy surrounding this team.
Something has to give, whether it's the right move or not. |

I think JB knows that. He's tried all year to add a top 6. So much Hutton talk. But maybe it has to be and ends up being Tanev. Should be an interesting draft.
So far, the majority of his trades have been:
WTF is JB doing!!!! Oh actually that trade has worked out for us.
Of course the Burrows one may be the best. Time will tell. |

I don't agree with that at all. They don't "need" anything from a business financial standpoint from the Canucks. I think that was their mindset until they realized they can't make the team be competitive forever.
Smart owners will understand the process that it takes to make a team competitive. At the end of the day all that matters is winning, which won't come to Vancouver using any other method than building through the draft first and foremost. Salary cap world!
If they have some bad years, which they're going to, and are, fans will stay away, because that's how the fans of Vancouver are.
However, if they make some good picks and start to get competitive again, the fans will come back, it's happened like that for many cycles around here.
Chasing your tail to keep your fans happy is what the Leafs did for decades, they always wanted to compete, but never made as much as a Cup final. Meanwhile teams that used the draft and accepted down years kept winning Stanley Cups. |
