I'm guessing it's going to take a different coach than WD to bring that out of him. - Nucker101
I don't know. His methods may work on Goldy responding to playing WD's way. Now whether that's best for the Nucks to produce offense is debatable.
I subscribe to the competition method as well. But who's Goldy competing against at his level for a top 9 spot? In camp the 7 regulars will be back. So that leaves BB, JV, Boucher, and Rodin maybe. Dhalen sounds like he's staying in Europe. Anyone else? |

Do you have a pro comp projection for your boy Necas? - DrChristianTroy
I can't really think of one particular player honestly, maybe a little Krejci in him but I feel like he's more of an emotional player than Krejci. |

You're right, the Canucks are still not that deep at wing.
I'm not a huge Rodin fan, but I'd bring him back just for the competition(assuming he wants to be back). So assuming the 4 centers next year are Henrik, Horvat, Sutter, and 1 of Caput/Gaunce/Shore. And with Daniel, Eriksson, Baertschi, Granlund all locks to make the team. You have 4 winger spots open and the following guys competing for those spots:
Boeser
Virtanen
Goldobin
Molino
1 of Chaput/Gaunce
Megna(lol)
Boucher(RFA)
Rodin(?)
Dorsett(could be finished though)
Pretty weak competition

I'd think its Boesers spot to lose leaving it to if DD is healthy.
2 spots for the rest to chew on..... |

Yeah it's weak on established players. Had a similar break down up before with projected goals too.
The top four on your list are all waiver exempt. They could all be easily started in AHL for development and see what the others can bring. Like Boucher and Rodin.
So guess 4 of those bottom 5 have a leg up on them if they show a modicum of competence. Complicate it further with this call for grit and Labate, Cram and Skille can be added to the mix. Megna's one way deal makes untouchable going down for minors. TL already said he's headed there for depth like one of the others.
I see JB looking to add more experienced wingers to beef up the top 9 off of a trade.

More competition at center if canucks luck out on the lotto. I also think Benning will trade for a top 6 forward.

That would be great. Though you want that top pick on the fourth line? Assuming he's ready for the NHL. Big question if any of this draft crop are ready, don't you think? |

Parise comes to mind but i think i can do better than that. |

Best I could do for Mittelstadt was a weird sort of hybrid skillset of Nicklas Backstrom & Matt Duchene. And yes I understand that probably only makes sense in my own head. |

thats probably the case yes.
its unrealistic of wd to expect different types of players to play the exact same way in a game....scorers or grinders alike.
No wonder there is difficulty scoring goals |

I thought it was off too, but I guess there's some similarities. I feel like Giroux wasn't the fastest skater for his size. |

What you think they should do? - Nuck4U
1) Stay clear of expensive UFA's
2) Potentially explore the secondary UFA market for players 28 and under that have upside
3) If you can trade Edler for youth(picks/prospects) then do so.
4) No more age gap trades unless they're too good to pass up, keep draft picks and try to acquire more picks
5) Try to keep a decent amount of cap space heading into next year if possible, opens up the potentially of taking on a bad expiring contract and getting a pick or prospect with it.
Next year won't be super competitive in camp, but if they stick to a proper rebuild, the year after and beyond should be. |

Got lemons make lemonade granny use to say.
Its time for patience & the pain & let the process proceed.
Keep stock piling prospects. Draft & develop.
Only age gap i can see is 24-26 if a key piece is to be had.
All depends on the cost & even at that its not likely. |

I gotta stick with my hybrid, but it's always interesting to hear what other people have... You got any others for this year's draft class? |

Tippett is in the Jamie Benn mould IMO
Makar is a Housley clone maybe |

Disagree with that one, don't think he has the same level of offensive talent/IQ, but that's just my opinion of course.
Makar is a tough one, so skilled, but not afraid to get his nose dirty either, despite his size. |

Uhm not sure how any of that improves scoring. Sounds like a plan to tank the year for draft picks. |
