The Hawk threw a ball up to me in the stands in between a double-header in MTL. Everyone was screaming for the ball, I tapped my glove and held it out. He pointed at me and tossed it up. Some dude offered me $80 for the ball on the spot, I was 12 and said no. - golfingsince

simple questions...
What stops ANY player from studying videos on their own?
Do they need to be led by the nose or be pros like they r paid to be? - Nighthawk
You learn more from other people pointing out your flaws to improve them, than looking for them yourself. |

Maurice Richard signed a puck for me with the French Habs logo on it when I was a kid, I was with my Grandpa, he was playing in an old-timers game back in the 70's.
I still have it but I used it for some road hockey games and in the basement on the concrete, you can't make out the signature now....(frank) I'm stupid |

Tbh i understand a player wanting to play for his country.
If he is willing to have his contract voided if injured i'm cool.
He can rehab without pay & at no expense to his team.
No insurance should be allowed other than his country can foot the bill.
Its not an NHL's teams responsibility to be liable for play outside of the NHL where the contract is honoured. To appease a player is one thing but to appease the IIHF & IOC means nothing to me. They want NHLers on loan then they assume all responsibilities & reimburse any losses. - Nighthawk
NHL will enjoy more of their phony parity through this as well. A team like Washington could potentially lose half their roster during the Olympics (how can you let OV go and not Holtby/Backstrom/Oshie/etc), while bad teams like AZ (and Vancouver ) will be able to win a few extra games against these AHL filled rosters keeping them in the playoff race longer |

Good choice bro.
The Hawk was awesome & too bad the big OWE ruined his knees. - Nighthawk
I kept the ball for a couple of years and then one day ran home to get it because our ball split when we were playing the in the field across the street. 2 pitches later it went over the fence into the tall grass never to be found. |

That, or just keep stockpiling assets and let them all fight their asses off for spots on the team once they turn pro. Nothing motivates a player more than competition, especially if the competition is actually decent. Anyone who doesn't rise up to the challenge probably isn't someone you want on the team anyway.
It's why I'm perfectly fine with having logjams at positions, I say load up everywhere with as many extra picks/prospects as you can. None of that "omg but there aren't enough spots for all the young guys to play!"
That's BS, make them earn it.
I find it funny that the same people who are tired of the "country club" mentality are the same ones who want to gift young players spots, if you want a hungry team then it starts internally. Let the these guys fight amongst themselves and the cream will rise to the top. - Nucker101

You could have spent that $80 on a hooker, for a 12 year old that's a memory. |

Ouch lol
My uncle was a painter at the PNE. Back in the day he got me all sorts of perks.
One was a J5V Lions football autographed & had the 1st ever black Pro football QB on it. AS a kid we used it & all the autographs wore off of it. |

Big difference between wanting young players to play at the end of the year when the games are meaningless and wanting these young players on the roster at the start of the year. The Sedin's should be limited to 12-15 minutes a night right now. If Willie won't play Goblin then send him to Utica asap - CanuckDon
The Sedins should be shut down now for a few reasons.
One: they are old and tired , it was a long season.
Two: give the kids more playing time
Three: You get an idea what your team looks like sans Sedins and you can start planning what is needed |

I would (frank)in love that, if they were able to sign some UFA's to take their place. If not, man that'd be a complete disaster of a season....they might not get 50 points |
