Too much. too late.
13-0 only hope.
Only to be dashed by NJ since we are the perfect slumpbusters.
Love watching them look like world beaters against top teams then laying an egg against cellar dwellers. |

Kind of like when they just beat the Sabres and Avalanche, then lost to the Bruins and Blue Jackets? |

NJ winless in last 10 + Backup goalie starting = Flyers loss
I enjoyed the game last night and have Phaith that anything is possible in the playoff race but this might be too little too late unless they dominate to close the season |

So I was thinking about the Streit/Filppula trade late last night, which I admitted that I did not hate but would have preferred to major salary in return. I like Filppula but from a Vegas draft point of view, the deal does bother me a little. I don't think Vegas will take Filppula, nor do I think he'll be someone we protect. I think what I'm disappointed in is, I think we're left with another underwhelming player, which is what I was hoping by trading Streit would clear up. By letting Neuvirth and Bellemare walk, would clear up. By allowing Vegas pick up some of our garbage would clear up.
Again, I like Filppula because I think he's taken pressure off of all of our centers but he's a short term fix. Short term relief I don't expect much of.
Are you guys still fine with all decisions made at the deadline? |

I've seen this movie before. The Devils due for a win, the Flyers coming off a big win against a heated rival, yeah, this probably won't end well. |

Fine with the trade, ok with the PEB deal though I wish the cap hit was a bit lower, and taking a wait and see what happens at the expansion draft attitude re the Neuvirth signing. |

I think Hextall expressed in his press conference (post trade) that he has no problem with protecting Filp for the expansion. Don't we also need to protect him with his NMC? |

I have no faith they are making the playoffs, but still enjoyed last night's game.
This game against the Devils has a 2 -1 loss written all over it. It's the Devils. It doesn't matter how they are doing. |

Hexy said he's going to protect Filppula. I imagine Filppula wouldn't have agreed to come to Philly without the assurance |

I am fine with it.
They basically got a FA early without playing in the FA pool this offseason. They didn't have to commit term past next year. Add some depth to the roster and you have a nice 1-2-3 down the middle if Giroux bounces back.
Really didn't see anything wrong with it.
Bellemare deal is fine. I think with better wings you would see better results which I think will happen next season.

Ahh what a great morning to be alive! Beating, no embarrassing the Pansies! Thankfully the schedule (game in Calgary Monday night), and weather, snow forced them to land in Pitts and then head to Philly, played a major role. However a win is a win is a win! ......Unfortunately the good feeling won't last past tonight...... |

Plus if we are not looking like a playoff team next year, then we could move him at the TDL to a contender. |

So is playing Bellemare with Giroux in the third period with a lead now a thing?
That is some Jack Adams level stuff from Hakstol.
52 straight games without an assist?? If you put a crash test dummy on the ice a puck would deflect off it on to someone's tape for a goal. |

For me, Bellemare seems like a good guy but we've always had better fourth line centers. I think he just got his first assist in 53 games or something jaw dropping. With Neuvirth, we sign him and still have a window to bring back Mason but why would we want both when both guys have been in consistent? In fact we signed in my opinion the worst of the two.
I still expect to sign Mason. I don't see why we wouldn't but I'm expecting this. My issues with the moves made at the deadline as opposed to a week ago, I think we need all the cap space available to do whatever it takes to bring in a stud front line player if possible. Maybe there are no deals out there but if there is a deal to be made, let's not worry about moving money around as we have past training camps.
My next worry is, whether or not Hextall is in on all talks. The TJ Oshie to the Caps trade for example. They traded Troy Brouwer and like a second to get Oshie. Troy Brouwer! Brouwer isn't even with the Blues anymore! You telling Matt Read and a second couldn't do the same? I could be way off base but you get Oshie, you don't sign Weise. Oshie upgrades a lot of things.
Is Hextall in on talks? |
