Great work as usual Bill. Of the 2 goalies on the NHL roster, which one do you think they'll bring back next year. Or do you think they'll be two new goalies next year? |

The Russia trip sounds like an awesome experience.
Every UFA should be made available by Hextall. Sell whichever goalie gets the best offer, and move on from MDZ & Streit, and Bellemare & VdV as well. Flyers management think they are solid, every night 4th liners and great PKers. Therefore, with their tiny cap hits, they should have value to a playoff team. |

Bill,
What's your read on the core group? We all know there is a decline in Giroux's game and we know about the inconsistencies of Schenn, Couturier, Simmonds and Voracek this year.
Question do you think they might need a little shake up? Does Giroux's play worry you at all move forward? |

It is truly amazing how everything with this team has gone wrong this year.
1. Giroux Regression
2. Below average goaltending
3. Gostisbehere going backwards
4. Defense chinese fire drill
5. Wiese no production
6. Zero secondary scoring
Provorov has played very well, and appears to be on track to become a legit # 1 pairing dman. Konecny was a positive, but head scratching benchings/injuries have taken some luster off his season.
All in all a disappointing season on almost every level. |

I think they should be open to making changes but not make change for its own sake. I'd like to see what could be opened up if they had a D-corps that was collectively better able to get the pucks up to the forwards and some two-way upgrades up front.
As for Giroux, last night was a step back in the right direction but he needs to get back to generating more at 5-on-5 than he has done the last few years. Needs more help.

Pierre Lebrun agree's over on TSN.ca that Mark Streit is indeed a wanted guy.....he even brings up Delzotto. Hopefully Hextall is able to get something in the ways of picks. |

Glad your trip to Russia went well Bill!
I think it's time to go nuclear on this roster. This core of players has had their chance to assert themselves and look competitive. You can point to the weisse's, schultz's and MDZ's all day but the top guys just aren't good enough especially at 5 on 5... at this point they could trade either goalie or both i don't think it matters... of the lavy left overs I'd keep simmonds amd field offers for anyone not drafted within the past few years. |

Giroux isn't skating any where near the way he used to....he also, although always a perimeter type player, doesn't go to the net at all. Last night he did appear to get his feet going, which is a good sign.

I thought he played better last night.
Need more help in which way? Normally he is usually with one of either Schenn, Simmonds or Voracek. Do you mean overall roster depth or just for guys to step up 5- on - 5 |

Hextall has more loyalty to unproductive core players than Reuben Amaro Jr. I agree that Hextall will not get much for the pieces everyone is wiling to get rid of. But he has to understand it won't get better until you can draft real talent. And your chances for that are much better drafting very low. Trade core pieces and get real bad for a few years. That is how you get real talent. |

Hainsey 14 points -16 35 years old. Del Zotto should net a return at least equal if not better. |

I mean it will be a late 2nd but that's what I was thinking. They also got Danny Kristo in the deal.
makes me wonder what Streit can get. As defenders are moved do teams get desperate to make sure they have depth. |
