The fact that Chris Vandevelde is actually on the ice playing in the Flyers lineup is a much bigger problem than how much Schenn gets paid - YuenglingJagr
Vandevelde could get hit by a bus tomorrow, and that wouldn't change a thing with this team.

The condition of the ice did not help flow of play at all.
I thought the clock got turned back to 1996 watching that game. - johndewar
I don't care how they win, just win. Bore me all the way to a Stanley for all I care |

There is only one way to find out if that is true.
Hockey is a sport where often the weakest player determines how good you are. The Flyers would be better off without him |

That arena is a total dump for hockey. I can see the Islanders getting out of there when they can. - dragonoffrost
The condition of the ice was a joke. Honestly, it was an embarrassment to the league. But, then again, when you look at the brilliance of DoPS, you have to wonder if anything embarrasses the NHL.

He's a fringe player, at best.
The complaints about him far outweigh his actual role on the team.
If you want to complain he should sit just like some other bottom 6 guys, fine, that's a legit complaint.
But acting like that guy holds the fortunes of this team on his stick when he goes out there is misguided and focusing on the wrong things. |

How's Brayden doing in ES?
I mean, he's been spoon fed PP time since forever here.
And not for anything, but Chris Vandevelde isn't exactly the reason this team doesn't have 10 wins, either.
Vandevelde could get hit by a bus tomorrow, and that wouldn't change a thing with this team. - johndewar
That's not even true. Last year they replaced Schenn on the 1st PP unit with Raffl for an extended period and it was a disaster. So Schenn was put back there and has retained his spot ever since because he's very good at it.
This year he has 4 ES points in 9 games, and last year he had the third most on the team behind Giropux and Simmonds.

If Brayden Schenn could skate like Phil Kessel or Carl Hagelin, we're probably not having this conversation. - johndewar
Hagelin who has all of 31 less career points than Schenn in 6 less games? |

He got one of those ES points playing on the 4th line.
Maybe that's where he belongs. |

4th liners don't get 14 minutes per game at ES. You actually need to look at more than just the order some beat writer lists the forwards.
Vandevelde could get hit by a bus tomorrow, and that wouldn't change a thing with this team. - johndewar
He's getting the 2nd most minutes on the PK among forwards. The PK is ranked 25th.
Waiving him could make a bigger difference than you think. |

If Hagelin had Brayden Schenn's hands, he'd be a perrenial all-star. He skates like the wind.
Brayden Schenn, OTOH, has to be reminded to move his feet. At age 25. |

Not really. He's replaceable now. I'd plug Leier in there or even Colin MacDonald.
He's not the reason for success and failure on this team, though. Not by a long shot. |

he is one of 12/13/14/15/16 forwards that play for the Flyers and he is the worst one out of them. He remains a problem for as long as he plays on the team. The guy could be paying the Flyers $712,500 for all care and he would still suck just as much |

My point is that maybe Brayden Schenn is overrated as a hockey player.
And instead of pages and pages of criticizing Chris Vandevelde, who makes about 700k, which should thinking about some of the players on the team who, maybe, aren't as good as their reputation suggests. - johndewar
well Schenn may not be playing well enough to the satisfaction to his coach and fans but the good side to that is that he has 8 points in 9 games. |

the bottom 6 is more important than the credit you are giving them in you ask me....not that you did. teams that win the cup typically are deep with good third and 4th lines that contribute. |

37 shot either blocked or missed...that's horrible!
Hak needs to put together a video of weak, fluttering, bouncing pucks that are
ON NET...that go in.
Everyone is trying to pick a corner with a highlight reel laser beam.
Keep it simple and just look at TK's goal...Hit the goalie in the chest followed up strong on the rebound, textbook shot on goal = rebound = goal! |
