You wouldnt send Biega down for a 24 year old with size and strength who could have some untapped potential?
- phyllee

That would be move one ... but then when Tanev is back .... who stays...? Or are we making trades ...?

Why not take a flyer on either Paajarvi or McIlrath? Change of scenery, system? We all know how AV likes young players? STL is a lot stronger than us. It would also give WD more line/roster shuffling options.
- VanHockeyGuy

Sure .... what's Paajarvi upside now for our line up ...?

McIlrath.... seems like insurance unless you want him to bump out Sbiza over Tree not being ready...

They need skill a lot more than they need toughness. Honestly after watching these first 7 games do you think the issue is that they are not tough enough?
- belcherbd

While you are correct, I can't stomach watching us lose and play passively. I have a lot of trouble watching the current Canucks get manhandled and not have a response. Bring me some old time hockey

Now what....
- Nuck4U

i do wish at times willie would do what teams like chicago do on back2backs , that being insert fresh legs no matter what , maybe even sit vets so they can get a bit more recovery time.
WD seems so set on his" GUYS" at the expense of inclusion for the sake of the teams whole wellness.
i would take a chance on both paaravi and mcilrath for the sake of depth and better competition , free top 10 picks? no brainer

The old time hockey I miss is the speed, scoring and lack of systems, I love watching two hockey players battle physically and fight because of that battle but not very entertained by a guy whose sole purpose is to fight or can't do anything but make a hit.

Certainly against anahiem he should have rested some players.

We can't fix these issues by collecting other teams scraps off waivers. Skill needs to be addressed through the draft. We can however, address our alarming lack of physical play through waivers or Utica.

He had no options with injuries had no one left and played Biega as farm is too far away for call up in time...

I would prefer having Larsen or Stecher in the lineup over McIlrath though. So the addition of a 1 dimensional slow Dman hurts by removing what little talent is in the lineup.

If Gudbranson goes out I would rather Tryamkin or Pedan brought up than McIlrath as well.

edit.

Sven Andrighetto would of been an interesting pickup as far as skill players but you're right very few skill guys are available through waivers.

Well Blues took Yak... he's got a couple goals and so Paajarvi is redundant I guess so... Would he add to top 9... better then Skille ...? At least he's free no draft pick give away

I always thought that was a strange idea that AV didn't give young players a chance. He brought lots of young Canucks into the fold and look at his roster right now, full of youth.
- belcherbd

People had some strange hate on for AV.

Our fanbase is not exclusive to it. Check out anytime the Hawks struggle, they automatically gravitate to Q being the problem.

I am not really speaking about McIlrath specifically. I don't like either of the players. I'd be fine with Pedan, Tree or Labate in the lineup. We are too soft

Yeah ... well there were some waiver options to start season where it was apparent Rodin was down for a while but they chose to sign Skille.... don't know if they see these guys as a fit.... they didn't even bother with Etem... sounds like they didn't even want him on the farm as his one way is or newborn is a stay way reason .... seems like they factor a lot of things in before moving on a guy ... it's not just about potential and skills ... I guess

I agree but I have more of an issue with soft forwards than Defense. Edler has had some bite, Gudbranson/Sbisa have been playing tough and I think Hutton has shown a bit of bite as well.

This team needs Virtanen badly but could also use a few more guys who can intimidate with hits.

I don't know if that Hartnell rumors still have legs but still think he would be a great addition.

100% agree. We have no one that can punish the opposing teams D. It's a disgrace. Virt isn't hitting this year. I don't believe for a second he is fully healthy

Not with that contract ... besides it will be a free for all that this club is lost bringing in old guys.... you think they would give Labate a chance before that.... after suspension he might be up over Megna
