Just listened to Pratt comparing Virtanen's attitude and development to Kassian. Wants to trade Virtanen for Evander Kane.
- Marwood

Sure ++ not straight up.

i disagree a contending team would , he still has term on friendly contract and can play anywhere in your top 9
- onesmallleap

That would be great...but I would be shocked. Canucks fans always over value their assets

Kassian was a drug addict. I don't think he had an attitude.

i think that we can all agree to trade him for the best package that is available by the tdl.

no more letting the fruit rot on the vine.

- RealityChecker

i do agree somewhat but , trading him to a condending team for a pick in the 45-60 range is not enough value for a player who can skate as well as him , is still signed and is highly respected in the room by his peers .

that being said it would have to be a significant deal for management to consider moving this asset

So you're saying Ryan Miller is not worth a 1st round pick? And Hansen worth a 1st and a prospect?

This I agree with, its trending similarly. Attitude I dont think is the same

I pass on Virtanen for Kane. Kane has a lot to offer, but I see Virtanen as workable. Something needs to click and he can be a really good player whereas I think what you have seen with Kane is what you will get

We need scoring not defense.

We don't need other teams scraps.

- Marwood

Yes and no.

I agree on the scraps but unfortunately a lot of other teams scraps would be regular players on our club so it is what it is.

Scoring will come when Eriksson Baertchi and the 4th line get rolling.

We need team toughness almost (if not more) than we need team scoring right now.

i am not overvaluing him , i am just wanting management to push for fair value .
and without being involved in the conversations with managements , we have no bases to say what is over , under, or even fair value.

i'm not dreaming of first round picks , all i am saying is that i see more value in the next 2 years of keeping Hansen as opposed to a late second round pick that may never play an NHL game

I might be the minority here, but I think the Canucks should pickup Pulkinnen. He has only seen limited ice time in Detroit but his numbers are incredible. His canon of a shot would be an immediate help on the PP (where he was used on the point). He is also very cheap. I would sooner see Skille/Burrows in the press box and see a 4th line of Pulkinnen - Gaunce - Dorsett.

You have to have value to push for value. Give to get.

No doubt.

Two years of posts on here about Hamhuis being worth a 1st cause he was the 8th Olympian Dman...how did that work out for us??

Exactly...I like Hansen but he is 2nd/3rd line tweener on one of the worst teams in the league. He isn't a top 6 player on a good team.

Edit...also, folks were talking about putting Hamhuis on the waiver wire he was so bad for 2/3rds of the season. and all of a sudden we expect a kings ransom?

I really thought last year was peak value for Hansen, but seeing how well his line is doing, if they can start putting up the numbers I can see potentially a first round pick as he has another year on his contract. Problem is that teams have started to hold onto them instead of giving them up in these kinds of deals

That's just it...the market is fluid. 2 seasons ago Hansen was probably worth a first. Not anymore.

I like what Vanhockeyguy said earlier, keep the competition level high. There are players in IR, bring in a new guy and let them all compete to stay when the team is healthy, just like training camp. Canucks and complacency is frustratingly two words often found together

This weekend will have lots of shifting in the standings. We have to at least split the EDM & WA games.
