They traded him because he requested a trade and they honored his request

This made my day. I feel for you guys I really do!

Does this change Tanner's belief in the Oilers being the best team in the league?

I would have taken him for nothing on the Leafs. Not that we need another small skilled forward. Having him for free, why not?

I like this Yak for Kris Russel (If you see it that way) if they DIDN'T TRADE HALL!!

A bunch of #3/#4 Defenseman and no true top pairing isn't gonna get you anywhere, and all you are now is way thinner on the wings, You don't have another center, as good as they are, besides McDavid who can carry a line

It's just amazing that things seem to be getting worse....

I remember a time around here when I suggested the Oilers trade away a couple of forwards for a couple of d-men and got my head cut off. And I had them doing a lot better than Adam Larsson and Kris Russell.

Are we officially in Alexandre Daigle/Patrik Stefan territory now?

I hope the Jets honor Touba's request and trade him for a significantly lesser player

Realistically there was a lot of negativity built up over the past 2-10 years and Chia has made a lot of changes.

I think there has been enough culture change and with you guys striking lightening with McDavid that tis team is finally trending in the right direction.

Which makes me happy as punch cause I now I can totally Troll you guys without feeling somewhat of a jack ass!

russel is terrible in a top 4 role if thats what we plan on.

thing is, assuming we have davidson and nurse pencilled in together on the 3rd pairing- russel is better than fayne and reinhart.....

so theres that

by losing nail yakupov???

i mean i wont comment one way or another on tanners oiler love, but yeah, losing nail yakupov should certainly do nothing to change ones opinion of potential success

This lineup seems just so much better with more potential than what they are rolling out today

this

yak asked for a trade ages ago. maybe as early as his second season.

so its bs that we wouldnt try and wait. thats exactly what we did. and his value wasnt going up because he couldnt get it done here.

yeah, its abit of a kick in the teeth to lose a former first overall for that return, but i just watched him get passed on the depth chart by castoff versteeg and undersized ncaa guy cagiulla. pitlick outplayed him too. this doesnt hurt us at all

It really changes nothing if anything it opens the door for someone else to step into that spot...not like there are big shoes to fill...I just love this idea that some out there still think Yak is something

wow. this article is vert ryan garner like. trading Yak for Russel, Versteeg and a 2nd rounder would have been a pretty good deal. does it really matter where the return comes from?
