Hall and RNH arent exactly disasters the only one you can say that is about Yak - RatedR80
Nuge and Eberle have been underwhelming. Should have been traded a long time ago Imo. |

You don't think people would have offered something better for the 1st overall pick?
A lot of bad moves. Puljuarvi over Juolevi was the latest.
Too early to judge Benning, let's stay on topic please. - Scooby_Doo
Pretty much the only smart thing they did.
Why oh why did you guys not go for Sergachev? |

Daigle - 327 points in 616 games
Yakupov - 111 points in first 255 games ...

Ain't gonna happen with you guys spunking all over Larsen, Gudbranson, Etem, Sutter, Granlund, Stetcher and Co.
Seriously, I've never seen a group of people get so excited over a new player (regardless of ability). You guy's, let by Vantel and Don go (frank)ing nuts over trading for a 4th line winger. |

Hey at least Edmonton didn't draft yakupov first overall; so a 3rd round pick is a pretty good return. Imagine if they wanted a first round pick on that bust.... |

Best part about this move for the Oilers is that it makes room for the next 18 year-old kid to be needlessly thrown right into the fire. - Snowblind

So was Trymakin or whatever his name was. Top 4 D guaranteed after 6 or 7 games. Your very own Chara I read. Now some want him in the AHL.
Easy job being the GM of the Nucks. No one questions your moves. - walshyleafsfan
No no this is a team on the rise and last year was just a bump in the road...the retool is done so it will be back to buisness...just as the Leafs will make the playoffs and the Oilers will draft 1st overall again after another terrible year

Other than Tanner and (for some bizarre reason) Cordell, I haven't seen one person predict the Leafs to make the playoffs. Certainly not in their thread.
Oilers picking 1st I can see happening to be fair |

The same could also be said about the Leafs and Nucks......the good thing is the season is about to start so we will just see who is where after the first two months

Daigle was a bust as a 1st overall pick 1 of the worst ever. That said he did play over 600 NHL games for 6 teams over 11 seasons in the NHL & 5 more to wind his career down in Switzerland earning money we could only dream of for 16 years.
As his sleeping on the beach in retirement doing shots of Pedron with enough money to live the rest of his life in luxury never working another day in his life, I'm sure he's fretting all we have to say about him. Poor kid. |

are you (frank)in kidding me? I know you're not on the West Coast but Benning is not very well liked by at least half the fan base.
You're simply generalizing from 30 posters on HB, I get it, it's virtually the same thing in leaf land where management hasn't accomplished a damn thing but they're the best thing since sliced bread - LeftCoaster
This isn't about the Leafs Lefty. They get talked about enough. Stop soft trolling (whatever that may be).
You're a knowledgeable chap. The love Trymakin got the end of last season was insane. Now people want him in the A.
It's the exact same as after the Etem trade, the Sutter trade, the Granlund trade. You guys were like this with Jensen. You guys were like this with Shinkaruk. You are like this with Stetcher. You're like this with OJ.
For a fanbase that absolutely dispises everything Toronto, it's impossible to tell you guys apart. |

Saying that Benning is loved by all is false and absolutely untrue! That was my point. And yes some people fall in love with everything in front of them, perhaps a sense of false hope from 40 plus years of nothing. It's the same over your way, we're more the same than we are dissimilar. |

Oilers should have traded the pick, it was the obvious move.
I can't believe how bad Lowe, MacT and now Chia have run this organization. It's as if they are the dumbest minds in hockey. - Scooby_Doo
forgetting for a second that we actually have no evidence there was a reasonable deal on the table, obvious move according to whom?
5 years later you can see it all clearly
