crappy value in terms of what his pedigree was 4 years ago. but not in terms of what he is today
- HB77

what do you mean mismanage?

whos the 3rd guy? nuge? how was he mismanaged?

- HB77

I understand what your saying and your actually someone whose opinion I really take seriously on this site..........

1st overall pick have enormous value. It's like buying a new car - in that the value is highest when you first receive it. Of course it's not the perfect comparison for hockey, but for my point, that 1st overall pick on draft day 2012 is so high.

Like I think the Oilers are going to fine......just so that's clear. I came on 2 YEARS ago and said that - before McDavid. A few guys joke as if I'm so bangwaggon fan..... I remember what the years following the cup run were like - and I still watched and cheered for them.

But getting back to my point - the mishandling of that asset is what frustrates me! It's not to sh*t on the oilers -why would I do that? I just hate the fact that you could of had a Ryan Murray.... or Lindholm. Certainly there's value in the point that some have made here that it's hindsight as well. No doubt.

But there's so many times you can say that - especially about #1 overall picks. They could of made this deal a year ago and making it NOW.... I don't know. Maybe it was too late but still. The Hall deal -- it is what it is. It's a need based trade. I think Chiarelli knows what he has but in terms of exchange of value..... there's a lot of potential / seeds that didn't materialize or were traded for products that would have cost as much in the past.

As for RNH, my point was he should have been protected more, a lot of people know that. His body was never NHL ready until he already messed up his shoulder and off season surgery (think that was '13 right). If anything, these factors just delay and hinder the star potential we SHOULD of seen; it shouldn't prevent them from reaching contention. But if McDavid didnt fall in our laps, I would be even more pissed.

Those two concepts aren't mutually exclusively. Being a bust means being far short of original potential, not having little or no trade value. Eric Johnson is a bust of a first overall as well. You'd still criticize Avs GM if he got traded to someone for a third rounder.
- Antilles
Exactly.

I think people will criticize for anything. Burke got it for trading Kessel for what turned out to be Seguin + Hamilton. To be more accurate, he traded 2 1st rounders - which due to his teams being so crappy - allowed Bruins to get Seguin (he didnt even play that well for them and shined more in Dallas) and Hamilton (again traded).

Did Oilers staff made a mistake taking Yakupov? IMO they always did. I never liked him - not as a person - but when all you have was Klefbolm - and you see Murray RIGHT there........BIG, great skater, RIGHT SHOT...Canadian D-man..... how do you not trade down. I remember saying that even after Yakupov's rookie season. I think it was hard for us to admit but only when you have a guy like Murray or Lindholm do you really realize the need -- or when your bald face is explaining a trade no one understands.

His left shot, but again just keep talking out of your ass before you fact check. The oilers are moving in the right direction, and cutting off the dead weight, some people need to get on board or cheer for another team. Cry me a river Henderson needs to stop blogging for awhile

Man (frank) Yak. That banana eater had to go!! So did Hall. This team can't get any worse, rid yourself of the distractions. Addition by subtraction!
- The-O-G

Sure, you guys were a terrible team for an entire year, that draft was only four years ago, and most of what you have moving forward from that draft is Khaira, Laleggia and a late third/second.

Atleast you guys can give those minutes to someone with consistent backchecking!

I keep thinking about that Friedman rumour that the Isles offered the Jackets ALL of their picks to move up from 4th to 2nd. Surely the same offer would apply to the 1st overall pick..

Nuge tripped over the blue line and separated his shoulder in his rookie season.

Yak was the consensus #1 on pretty much every single draft board but was not considered an elite/generational talent and the #1 was shopped but no one was offering anymore than a dman taken in the 15-30 range the year before let alone a top d prospect and their 1st like the Oilers wanted. Hindsight is 20/20 but Mr Rexall himself screwed that up and taking Murray really wouldn't have been much of an improvement as he finally just played a full season.

Yak burned his value. He was worth nothing. He shouldn't have been a 1st overall and his value was going down. Chicago supposedly offered a pair of minor leaguers if Edmonton retained salary. St Louis offered a potential 2nd and some shrapnel. Best offer was on the table to get rid of a player who had grown tired of the team and a team who had grown tired of the player. It was time for each other to move on. The team got the best they could.

They didn't maximize Halls value but made the team better overall.

You are not part of the "we". We want you to leave these boards. We don't want you around here. We want your account closed. We want the Oilers to be better and the Sens to suck because you've left that bitter taste in our mouths. We had no bad feelings towards the Sens until you came around these parts.

Please for the love of God let Chabot fail miserably and let you follow up on your promise to erase your account when it happens. No one wants you here nor breathing for that matter. Please quit living.

how much you have to drink tonight?

I am an oilers fan, who are you any idiot to tell people which team they can cheer for.
You think you can come up with a better blog, go right ahead.

I was wrong about the right shot and anyone can see their moving in the right direction... it's pretty easy when you get handed top 5 picks like that..... but how long they'll stay contenders is a whole other story. Crosby won cups 8 years apart.

And you are definitely not one of those that make intelligent or respectable comments. You have consistently made bullpoop offers of something like Eberle or Nuge for Methot and a 3rd and tried to justify it with bullpoop like Edmonton needs d so it solves both teams problems. And you consistently do it. Over and over and over.

You are not wanted in the Oilers thread. I honestly think people would rather have Cloutier back than have you post one more (frank)ing time. Take a hint. Stay the (frank) out of the threads pertaining to the Oilers unless you have something intelligent to say. Your stupid NHL 17 esque trades will not happen and none of us want to hear your fantasy deals to make Ottawa better. Go lick windows, you are not wanted here.

Mars bars are quite delicious, I must admit. It ranks up there as one of my favourites. It's been so long since I've had a Twix... Now there's a bar I could go for right about now.

That's a name I haven't seen in a while. But one disease at a time. Can't cure aids without stopping the HIV first. He isn't wanted, offers nothing worthwhile to convos here. Yet keeps inviting himself back. We get it Alfie, you're the Kanye West of the hockey blog world, the least relevant, most annoying, piece of crap to show up. Go back to your fat assed better half, the sens, and leave the rest of us alone.
