I agree with Carol I don't see Edler being moved until his final year at TDL - VANTEL
Unless they upgrade on him in a trade, I don't know why they'd move him, he's their best defenceman. |

I'm just saying Linden is his biggest fan, they wouldn't even ask him to waive his NTC. |

I think both players are similar (in terms of stats - yes, Brassard has the edge in points at this time, but Zibanejad is quite younger and has been trending up the last few years, showing that he still has upside). But what makes the trade uneven is the throw in of the second round pick (which is most likely going to be a high one, if this past season is any indication). It's definitely another head-scratcher, all things considered (it's not like Ottawa is getting any cap relief, so really not sure of the reasoning behind the move)
P.S. I agree with Rocket - Melnyk is one of the worst owners in the NHL - Zogg
I was going to respond to people, but this is exactly what I would have said. When you get a second rounder and a 23 year old that is trending up(only was deployed in the top 6 last year really). Brassard is good, but is in his prime and the two players finished what 8 points different? Imo Rangers, given they also got much needed cap relief , killed it.

I am quite sure Habs will be just fine with Webers great shot for 7-8 years along side his big hits and sound D. Then he retires around 38 or so.
A 20 goal knuckle head like Radulov sounds just like a 20 goal knucklehead like Kane whom you and a few other like myself wouldn't mind seeing. - VANTEL
He's 32, playing til he's 39-40 you mean? It's a bit of a stretch, but not impossible for a guy like him. Just seems like the attrition is already catching up with him a bit. Next year and the year after, he's likely the better all around guy.
I think the real reason the trade happened is to groom Beaulieu and sergachev. Weber is definitely better than subban for that job imo |

I also believe PK and Therien had a thing going on and it wasn't a good thing. |

atm he is their best yes. Not the stuff you trade.
Im expecting good years from EG and tree as well.
and If jarvis is able to add some structure on D then we should be competitive and edler will have a much better year. |

I really believe with reduced minutes, by getting a lot better defensive group, you'll see way less brain fart's from Edler.
Offensively he may not be as good as he once was but defensively he can still match up really well against other teams top lines, and still put up 30 points. |

He was on pace for 30-35 points, I'm not so sure I see the offensive game slipping that much. He was out best d-man in only 52 games last year. I expect 30 points next year if he plays 80. The shot doesn't seem as good, but still scored more than any other |
