If up to me i fire MB. Inherited Price & done nothing to add to the Habs.
Woeful 1 trick pony team with no offence that would make Lou proud.
Uncle Lou rode the coattails of Brodeur otherwise he has done nothing.
If the NHL had 29 Lou clones as GM it would be like watching paint dry.
The guy has no clue about what entertainment is & never will.
As for Melnyk he should be forced to sell the Sens. |

Slow day, but I am curious people's opinion on the Canadian team's offseasons. Some major trades and controversial ones, how would you guys rank them?
Canadiens: Weber/Subban, Shaw/Eller,
Leafs: Andersen/Bernier+picks, Rychel/Harrington
Sens: Brassard/Zibenijad+pick, Sieloff/Chiasson
Flames: Chiasson/Sieloff, Elliot/picks,
Oilers: Larsson/Hall
Canucks: Gudbranson/McCann+pick - WhiteLie
besides the hall scenario
I think that Leafs getting Rychel is a good steal.

Leafs trade is not that simple. I read today there are conditional picks . If Ducks don't win the cup with Bernier, then Leafs need to give up Pitts first round pick and another teams second round pick. No on sh1ts on Uncle Lou and the dumb moves he has made but everyone is more than willing to take a wet fart on JB - VANTEL
Couldn't have said it better myself. Leafs give Anderson 5 and 5 and have no idea if he has the head space to handle TO, but people lament JB letting go of Cannata for nothing. |

Now to comment on analytic geeks...
If i want a keyboard puncher in a suit I'll go to any government office.
If i want a hockey guy I'd hire the 1st guy to lay out the geek.
Real experience in the game of hockey wins out everytime.
Calling Dale Tallon..... Pick up pls....we can find room for u here.
Come home to the team that saw talent in u we just didn't know it was as a GM.
Can we bury the hatchet?

Rychel for Harrington is right up there with Etem for Jensen. Not exactly a blockbuster |

No its not.
Sank like a rock when the pony went lame.
Took on a contract that runs to 2026.
Radulov an unproven head case in the NHL.
Shaw is fine but any squirrel can get luckyish once in awhile.
Time will tell if even he can turn the Habs around.
As for Sergachev thats the spoils of sinking like the Titanic.
I will go on record saying MB & his pet coach gone before the TDL. |

I'm getting quite a chuckle out of canucks fans jumping on the over-payment of a 2nd to land Brassard...after all the heat fans lumped on Benning.

I like the Brassard deal. A 2nd means squat to me.
It says much about Mika being traded more cuz the Rangers are aging fast & IMO the cup window has closed. Cap problems & becoming 2nd fiddle on the ice to NYI lately just ain't cuttin it in NY NY. |

I am quite sure Habs will be just fine with Webers great shot for 7-8 years along side his big hits and sound D. Then he retires around 38 or so.
A 20 goal knuckle head like Radulov sounds just like a 20 goal knucklehead like Kane whom you and a few other like myself wouldn't mind seeing. |

Cannot argue that comparison much other than Radulov is 1 dimensional & not cheap at that. Stinks of desparation to me.
More teams would line up for Kane over Radulov IMO.
For the money we have Sven & Rodin who cannot be worse off.
But heh he could prove me wrong but i won't hold my breath. |

I think you are confusing the two deals.
Andersen deal was for 30th overall ( pens 1st) and Ottawa's 2017 2nd round pick from what I understand and those picks don't change regardless of how either team performs.
Bernier was sent to the ducks for future considerations that just were released.
If Anh or a team they trade Bernier to wins the cup and he plays in 50% or more of the playoffs it is a 2nd.
If Anh or a team they trade Bernier to makes the final but loses and he plays in 50% or more of the playoffs it is a 3rd.

Well the chances of Bernier playing 50% of games anywhere in the NHL is a longshot. LV will pass on him is my bet.
He would not get in 50% of the games for Utica if we had him. Its moot IMO |

Bernier was apart of the Anderson deal pretty much but had a signing bonus paid on July 1 that Leafs kept him to pay then moved him after the bonus was paid out.. |

It was Toronto using it's financial power to get rid of a player. It's not being considered cap circumvention but they are certainly pushing the envelope. |

There cap is unaffected though. Only saved Anaheim actual salary you paying for his bonus. Same cap hit, but half the actual cost to Anaheim. |

To Toronto
Andersen
Some unattainable conditional pick predicated on Stanley cup appearance or victory
To Anaheim
Bernier, less 2 million bonus
1st rounder, 30th overall 2016
2nd rounder, 2017, one of Toronto, Ottawa, San Jose whichever is the middle pick of the three |
