The discussion on the main Canes board is he was cut to sign a Dman to satisfy the 40/70 requirement for the expansion draft. If GMRF doesn't bring in a dman on a 2 year contract that played at least 30 games last season, we'd have to expose Faulk. |

Between the smaller than normal cap increase and the looming expansion draft there will be some odd looking moves this summer and at the deadline next season. Eklund and the writers here are salivating.... |

There is something wrong if the team moves to Quebec before Arizona or Florida are relocated. |

If ARZ & FLA didn't get relocated It ain't happening with the Canes in the fastest growing market area in the US to a City 1/2 the size of Raleigh that has failed before and your forgetting one VERY important issue the NHL owners get more $$$ If a NEW team goes to Quebec rather than a relocated one, and for that reason Gary G said "Carolina is going NOwhere"...Oh Congrats on the the "Stamkos to the Leafs is eminent" btw!..Seems those high taxes were the very reason he stayed in no state tax TB oh and there a contender also. |

OR Due to waivers Phil Di Giuseppe could be the odd man out or Bickell due to his salary won't be claimed and the 3rd D pairing could look different IF Fleury makes the team and very well could, BUT due to expansion Murphy and Tennyson could be one of the unprotected D men and both need to get to the 40/70 rule number. I have a feeling GMRF will make another move or so at top 6 forward or in goal as the D men are piling up in Charlotte and Forward as well and seeing how GMRF stocked the cupboard's the past few drafts, so with Ulf Samuelsson getting the Checkers up to speed and enough talent there to make them a MUCH better team the culling process wont take very long after both training camps start.

I hate that 4th line. It screams "weakness" to me.
There's absolutely no excuse to have Jay McClement on this hockey team at this point, and PDG has definitely earned a spot.
Tennyson shouldn't be more than a #7/8 call-up and unless Fleury blows the staff away, he belongs in the AHL.
Murphy is better than what a lot of people want to pretend he is. |

I can see your point with J Mac but he is still a good 4th line C and really would you rather have Malone and Nash back?. PDG has proven his worth I'm with you on that BUT it's just he or Bickell can go back to the AHL without being claimed and I only figured BP would keep the Nesty/Staal/Nordy line intact as they were very hard to deal with in the 2nd half of last season, but there is no telling what the line combo's will actually look like until camps and preseason is over especially the top 6 and the 3rd D pairing If Fleury makes the team BUT GMRF has to address the 40/70 rule with a D man he feels expendable See Murphy or Tennyson

I would rather have Nash over McClement every day of the week. Jay was a disaster last season.
Nordstrom can play C just fine and that 4th line could put up a few points. They won't get any with McClement there.
I think Tennyson probably rotates in as a #7 but we could also see Hainsey get a one year deal to shield somebody else. |

If every player the Canes have on the roster right now produces the same way as last year, that's 181 goals.
They scored 196 last year.
It seems safe to say that growth from the young D, expanded roles for younger guys and the probable addition of Sebastian Aho can at LEAST make up for that 15 goal difference. |
