Edmonton should have taken a defense man, jesse was too hard to pass up, then the canucks skipped on matty I really don't know why but what a deal for the flames who didn't end up moving up to get him by being ripped off then got him anyway.

As per Brian Elliot I believe 2.5 million for this year it a good steal with what the flames traded really to get him, it gets the flames through this season hopefully they get 38+ wins off him and slip into the playoffs, as per expansion next year they can either hit the goalie market again or sign Elliot to something under 4.5 would be nice based on how he performs this year, the flames now have huge cap room to keep sean and johnny happy with more than just a bridge contract and possibly hit the market for a 20+ goal scoring RW.

I feel the first round for the flames went very very well I watched with little enthusiasm and excitement until Vancouver didn't draft matt I damn near leaped out of my chair as I live in the London area, I think he is the real deal whether or not he plays this season I kinda doubt but the flames already have other kids trying to move up and into the line up which are go getters.

The only thing I can expect from the draft or before July 1st now is the flames traded Dennis Wideman off as I think with the flame fan base there is a small disconnect perhaps I am wrong but he is something that can be moved in a lot of directions for decent assets in a dream world the flames rip off the oilers with it packaging for one of the big 3 which I doubt but stranger things have happened.

if the flames get in the playoffs again i expect elliott will have been a huge part of that and probably end up commanding a little more money than that.

but if the flames could get him for the kind of price you're talking about i would want to lock him up. that's just me though. i'm expecting him to be good for the flames. but i've been wrong before.. so let's say i'm hoping he'll be good for the flames.
