He's a third pairing dman, IMO. What that means to me is a dman who has some skill, but is limited in other areas. Does he give up the blueline too easily? Yes. However, in the defensive zone he usually is in good position. Has a decent shot from the point and is a little above average passer and mobility.
Considering this team has rolled out guys like the corpse of Kubina, Krajicek, and Parent in the 3rd pairing for a playoff run, AMac isn't the main issue on this blueline right now. The problem right now is there are too many 3rd pair dmen in the top 6 right now, but that is about to change. Of course, this doesn't mean I feel AMac is indispensable, but at this time where the organization right now, he is a bridge. - ravishingone

Not when Vegas takes all our good players. Be left with VDV centering the top line - PhillySportsGuy
They can only take one player max from each team. What I want to know is league is saying/proposing up to 2yrs professional years are exempt but they also said players on final year of ELC contract are elgible? Does that mean ELC contracts playing in NHL or ELC contracts in juniors? |

I thought MDZ showed enough growth this year to me that he could be a good 2nd pairing dman going forward. Since he's been out awhile, it's easy to forget he was getting 23 minutes/night. Insert MDZ and Provorov next year and move out Manning and either Schultz, Gudas or AMac suddenly this blueline gets hopefully a little more skill and mobility. I think Hakstol will protect Provorov early, but gradually increase his responsibilities especially at even strength as the season moves past Christmas.

Hakstol believes in AMac. Giving him 21 minutes a night. He isn't coming out of the line-up anytime soon. He's an overpaid 3rd pairing dman who can play in this league. I never get upset when a player gets paid, it's not his fault Homer wrote the check. - ravishingone
3rd pairing dmen don't play 21 minutes a night on playoff teams. |

Who would even be in contention for that award? Trotz? Maybe Sullivan for turning around the Pens. I'm sure the Canadian media will want Babcock for just making it through the season. - TobyFlenderson
