Would Shayne Gostisbehere go first overall in NHL 2012 entry draft if draft happened today

Maybe not #1, but he would certainly be a high 1st round pick. Especially in that draft.

Detroit is a pretty quick team
- orangekrush2010

Didn't mean to imply Detroit wasn't quick. What I meant is Chicago would be more likely to take advantage of turnovers than Detroit. And after the 1st last night we had a good amount of turnovers.

Wow... what a game. I really forgot what it feels like to play truly meaningful hockey!

Start of last nights game with the few negatives..

Gudas was god awful last night. On the ice for all three Wings goals, and was -at least- semi responsible for all three. Terrible turnover on the Datsyuk goal. Couldnt get body position on Tatar for the third goal. The Athanasiou goal was weird, but he was completely out of position... and the Mantha post, and broke stick were crazy too. He needs to reel it in a bit. Her had a decent stretch, but was scary every time he was out there last night.

Streit looks like a shadow right now... and not in a good way. It is crazy how hesitant he is with the puck. On top of that, he is making so many ill advised plays its unbelievable. I dont know if its age, the system or the injury, but whoa.

Empty net against: Scary situation for the Flyers.

Now to the good:

Mason was the number one star. Dont care if Raffl had to goals or not. You dont win that game without Mason playing the way he did. That third period blocked save on a 1-on-1 with Zetterberg was every bit as important (if not more important) than the Neuvirth save against the Wild. To do that against the team you have to beat in regulation. Amazing. Had a handful of "did he just do that" saves last night.

Physical play. Raffl, Couts, Schenn, White, Simmer... pretty much everyone.. Great strength along the boards and the way they finished their checks

Composure. Out shooting the Wings 23-2 in the first (i think)... and then giving up that early goal in the second.. last years team (and even pre-Christmas this year) would have simply imploded. They hung in there.. fought hard.. never quit and it payed off. Even when the Wings played their best in the third.. the Flyers simply buckled down and didnt quit.

This team is going to make the playoffs. I can just feel it!

Solid game. Held off a desperate Wings team who looked real bad in the 1st. Great 2 points.

Ghost just keeps improving, is no slouch defensively, smart with positioning and stick.

4th line looked good. Bad news for Cousins, imo, when Jake gets back.

Suck it Raffl haters.

I've been quiet on the whole VdV thing, but he'll be kept in the lineup. He kills penalties well and that's why he's there.

Gotta get Streit off the 1st PP unit...he doesn't look good at all. Maybe he just doesn't like where he's playing on the top unit or maybe he just can't quite keep up any more, either way, he needs to go.

Agreed. VDV and PEB put in some really good work last night killing off the penalties, pinning the Wings in their own zone and burning time.

I think it's a tough choice between Cousins and Laughton. Gagner has earned his spot and needs to stay imo

I think that 4th line would look even better if you took Vdv off of it and put Raffl there.

I think VDV has an epileptic fit when the puck touches his stick...

Hell had a wide open shot set up by great work by his line mates and (some how) completely missed the net.. I get that people like his hard work and defense, but Raffl can do that just as well.

He's missed a couple wide open right in front of the net shots a couple times the last week or so. One of them I face palmed and say RJ would have made that. Speaking of which, I saw a tweet from Flyer's beat writer saying sources suggested / believe RJ will never play for the Fylers again

Ok. I think he's 2nd/3rd line tweener. Definitely not a top line guy. Don't care as long as he puts up points as he has been. Warming up at the right time.
