because you're enamored with provorovs potential, i assume, yes? Well, by that same token, I am sure a lot of people believe Sanheim's potential is not far off from provorov's and is certainly higher than ghost.
- orangekrush2010

Completely disagree on Sanheim.

No the black tights that men wear on the main line.

I'm not clamoring for it, but I think the whole "expansion is diluting the game" thing is overstated.

Schenn needs 1 more point to set a career high. Not bad for a 5th liner.

I still don't like this expansion draft business. Seems to me that except for the low chance a team loses a poopy contract like MacDonald, teams are losing players they have spent time and money developing and getting nothing in return because the NHL wants to make some more money. I get why a city wouldn't want to start from square one and suck for a few years, but it doesn't seem fair to other teams. You can only protect so many players and some are going to lose a few good ones.
- Tomfan365

The teams are getting millions of dollars in expansion fees, which is why they're expanding in the first place. If it were about business of the league they'd relocate poorly supported teams. They don't do that because there's no money in it for them.

They set the deadline for expansion decision by the draft.

Dreger said you have to expose a minimum of 25% of your cap to the draft.

When I come home from a game, I immediately go to the game thread to read your reactions when we score. It's like I get to enjoy the game twice that way. Then I watch all the Flyers goals before deleting my recording. Enjoying three times.

All season until mid-February I was "they aren't making the playoffs and I don't want them to because I can't afford it." Now I'm "I'll borrow the damned money, let's go boys!"

My buddy has been saying all season if they make playoffs then were going to a game. I said sure because they were barely flirting with .500 at the time. Now, I would love nothing more than to take the trip and be there for my first flyers(home) playoff game

That's been me this season. Gostisbehere coming on the scene shifted gears for me. I said all along, when they quit putting ugly looking band aids on this team they can call me and I'll be here.

If they aren't going to be top ten in the draft bad then let's make the playoffs. I don't need to pick 14th more than picking 16 to 29.

I really thought they'd bring Ghost up in November but even I didn't think he'd have the impact he's having so quickly. I listen to all the shows out of Toronto and his name comes up in discussion a hand full of times everyday. Everyday...

If Morin and Provorov make the team out of camp...

From the way Hexy talked, it is possible that one young defenseman "if he proves he's ready" can make the team out of camp. It is unlikely they will try to incorporate the learning curves of two young defenders from season start. But he believes Gostisbehere's development this year gives them the opportunity to bring someone in from the get go next year if he blows their doors off in camp.

Have to give a bit of credit to Varsity here.

After putting Jake in purgatory for a lengthy stretch, playing Umberger for ages... He has stuck with Cousins and Laughton.

Overall this season, very well done. Good for him.

Have to imagine that Ghost, MDZ and Gudas are locks.

Way I see it 3 spots remain open.

I think Provorov is the most NHL ready, but he's also the one that won't have the benefit of being AHL eligible. I think Sanheim has really come on down the stretch, but he's still got a few warts. Morin has made strides, but from the Phantoms beat guys/AHL scouts on twitter, he still could use some AHL big minutes.

They have Streit, Schultz, Gostisbehere, MacDonald and MDZ signed, and Gudas is a RFA, so there's no real pressure to rush a kid, and they may well look at D in free agency or via trade.

I'd be stoked for Provorov making it out of camp next season. Knowing Hexstall he'll have to be dynamite to make it. Depending on trades and injuries could also see either Hagg or Morin getting called up as well. Might see one of them actually if the Flyers go on a run with more injuries...

If I'm a betting man, I think MDZ, Ghost, Gudas, Provorov are locks to be on the team next year. It is lunacy to send Provorov back down. He's dominated and has outgrown the level by a large margin. There is no more to learn from the Dub -- offensively or defensively. Send him back, and you stunt his development a year.

Which leaves 2 starting spots. I think Streit is on the team to start next year. 1 more to go. Schultz is under contract, and lord knows they love him, so I think he's here. Which leaves 1 person...guess who? They need to either trade him with retained salary (pipe dream) or dump Schultz, and let him play until he eventually gets traded. Sending him back down to the A probably won't happen. And if he's the #7, well, that's not helping his value. Going to be interesting .
