I couldn't believe everyone took Mr. Poopybutthole seriously when he said that. It was clearly sarcasm...right in line with the show.
I didn't believe it for one second. |

I thought I also saw any players on ELC are protected - J35Bacher

"...Should clarify: first- and second-year "pros" exempt from potential expansion draft, not necessarily NHL players. Pro includes AHL..." |

Not hockey related, but for people who work on cars:
I have an 05/06 Civic. I feel a very little bit of shaking in my steering wheel when I drive (guessing alignment), but a much heavier shaking in the wheel/pedal when I brake. I'm guessing out-of-round rotors. Is it worth going to a machine shop and having them milled/lathed, or just get new ones put on? Seems like I could actually do it in about an hour or so , assuming I have all of the tools (looks like just hex keys, sockets, and a mallet). - jmatchett383
You can try to have them turned but if they are too thin it's not going to work.
I don't frank around with tires and brakes. Were I in that position I'd get new rotors and pads. |

This is what I heard yesterday.
The incoming teams, having paid $500m in expansion fees as opposed to $50m like prior expansion, want to have competitive teams. They don't want to come in and flounder for 5 years or more. With Nashville, Columbus, Atlanta and Minnesota in their rear view mirror they don't want to open up in Vegas with that kind of future.
Protection of players is going to be far more strict. They are also saying that NMC/NTC will be in place and unless the player waives theirs prior to the expansion draft teams will be forced to include them on their protected list.
This is going to cause many GMs to try to force through a trade prior to expansion on some of the players with NMCs that they don't want to protect.
Should make things interesting. - mayorofangrytown
Bolded area is actually still in discussion and a key sticking point. The proposals are:
1) teams can expose NMC/NTC players
2) teams need not use NMC/NTC players on their protected lists, but they cannot be picked
3) teams may not expose, they cannot be picked, and teams must use a protection spot for NMC/NTC players
As a FAN, I'd like to see 1 or 2. Realistically I'm afraid it will be 3.

rotors are pretty easy. could be worth getting them milled if they are relatively new...but my guess is that they arent and buying new ones is like 60 each. It is pretty simple...I would set aside about 3 hours, but an hour isnt out of the question. One of the springs that returns the caliper was seized on mine which added time. Other important thing of note is you need a special tool or a really big screwdriver to depress the caliper piston. It is basically a really big phillips head that you turn in order to depress. Since you are mechanically inclined it should be easy. 2/10 just make sure you hang the calipers to protect the lines
i think the alignment would have to be really bad in order to cause a shake...i would guess wheel weight, bad tire(s), something on the wheel, or even your rotor issue first. alignments should be done at least twice a year around here though so its probably out anyway. A hockey puck works great as a jack pad too now its hockey related--------------------------^ |

Flyers have 5 guys with NTCs and two of them are FAs after next season. The other three, Jake, G and Simmonds, will all be protected anyway.
When do they intend to expand? |

Weren't there agreements back in the Nashville/Minnesota days where the expansion team wouldn't pick an unprotected player and then be compensated by that team in the form of a draft pick or picks? I remember that going on for some reason. |

Yeah, it's all just conjecture and rumour right now. They don't even know if it will be one or two teams although the hot rumour is it's just Las Vegas and Quebec will buy out an existing franchise (NYI?). |

One other little note from LeBrun's twitter:
"...Other pertinent expansion draft detail: teams must expose enough players which total at least 25 percent of previous season's payroll..."
ie: that would be the equivalent of $17.85M of this year's payroll.
I also believe that the league has to give 1 year's notice of expansion prior to July 1st of the preceding year. |
