Nickelback is actually a solid band. Their music is really good and will be played for years on radio stations. They have some of my all time favourite songs.

It's not that Nickelback doesn't have the 'potential' to be a solid, respected band...it's just that commercialism and record label influence and their want to be radio successful limit their end result big time. I always said before I would love the see Nickelback 'try' to write an actual Heavy Metal/Rock record without thinking about the radio garbage they produce time after time after time. Releasing the same iteration of that same tune over and over and over again is not being a solid band. Diversify.

There may be a few pop internet radio stations in the future that keep playing their stuff but ultimately their radio stuff today will die off and not be considered future classics or played on classic stations for that matter. Unless they diversify...history will just place them in commercialism hell with the rest of their types of bands over time.

I love your lack of self respect/ while you’re passed out on the deck/ I love my hands around your neck.”

I'm sure they don't care. And I get the fact that many people like them and attend their shows...doesn't make them good. But going down in history next to the timeless greats on classic rock just isn't going to happen for them. If they want the cash over self-respect and respect from their peers good on them I guess.

Nashville was due for a loss and we're at that stage of the season where our kids are playing with confidence and some of the veterans (Burrows/Vrbata/Hamhuis) are playing for jobs next year. Expect more surprises like this, most of the playoff teams tend to play a lot more safe during the stretch run while teams out of it tend to play loose and more willing to take chances since losses don't matter.

It's baffling. Miller can't make a save for the past two months in the third period to save his own life but he makes a game saving stop in the third period on Sat.

Now it's...oh...if we beat COL twice and they and Minny go .500 and we go 11-4 we got a shot at the wildcard with two games in hand blah blah blah blah I can hear it now if we beat WPG tonight...lol.

Unreal.

Let's go #tanknation!!!!

It pisses me off that teams are so obviously still tanking (arizona/calgary), the NHL should lessen their chances in the top 3. There is no reason for CGY to be as bad as they are given their current roster.

I think it was in the Provies that said it best: The Canucks are a team other teams are starting to take lightly.
Definitely will cause them to be spoilers and take a few more points than they should. The goalies will steal a few points and the twins will dominate a few shifts each game and the Canucks will finish 10th in the conference

Nickleback are probably one of if not the worst bands for their level of fame. But if we're making lineups for Canadian musicians....

Gord Downie/The Hip - Neil Young - Leonard Cohen
Bryan Adams - Buble - Barenaked Ladies
Dallas Green/Alexis on Fire - Arcade Fire - Sam Roberts
The Guess Who - Rush - The Band (they're mostly Canadian)

(Then you can throw a line of Nickleback/Drake/Beiber out there to get beat up and get the crowd into it)

And as for bands that didn't sell out, I'd say one of the biggest ones would be Radiohead. They just got weirder in a great way.

Random stat: In Theo Fleury's season playing hockey in the UK, he won the scoring title with 74 points in 34 games, while also being runner up by 2minutes in PIMs with 270 in those 34 games...

Of course, I was just going off my more musical tastes, but the all-woman defensive pairings:

Morissette/McLachlan
Furtado/Joni Mitchell
Twain/kd lang
(Feist/metric as 7/8)

Also, purposely leaving Celine off the list -- she's the nickleback of the female singers world.

There is a time for winning and a time to be thinking about drafting. Picking 16th and getting pounded in the first round is not something we should be thinking about right now.
