Probably true. Which is why I think our draft position for D would be decent if we pick top 5-10...
Although top 5 would be nice.

Does top 5 get you Jakob Chychrun? Or does he go top?

EDM Will be picking top 5 again, and will probably take the top rated D, unless they hopefully trade down for a change. |

I think Chychrun will go outside of the top 5...he sure didn't look all that good in the prospects game although I do think with maturity he could bring what we need. That would be a tough call... |

I have been watching Dante Fabbro playing with the Penticton Vee's, he doesn't look that great and he's rated high as well, along with his team mate Jost, who is a bit too small. Hope JB passes on these two. |

Aren't you guys the same jokers last year who were preaching that you don't draft a dman in the first round? Or was that just that emo Nucker? Looks like that ass is a Flyer fan now...... |

That'd be a nice return, although if JB could scoop Madison Bowey instead..... |

Drafting a d man first round more often than not doesn't work out. I'd wait until late first round or second round and then take a d man for 3-4 straight rounds. Take Laine or Matthews first and then go from there. |

Half of the top d men per team in the NHL were drafted after the first round. 15 teams top d man is from round 2 or later...is what I was trying to say.
The high end talent this year at forward if selecting top 6-7 is too good to pass up on. |

I still think Jake Bean is a guy that doesn't get talked about enough. Probably going to go 15-20. |

No doubt a dman trajectory is harder to forecast but if you're in the top 5 and can get an Ekblad or a Doughty or Seth Jones or Morgan Rielly or Niedermayer or Pronger you make that pick over a nugget-Hopkins etc....franchise dman are hard to come by and if he's staring you in the face, you pick him......
Just my 2 cents, but you can't replace solid scouting to steal later round guys like Keith or Seabrook or Weber or Subban.... |

If the Canucks can get a 1st for Hamhuis, then you take someone like Bean with that pick. |
