I guess with the title this is an invite for Oilers fans to come on here.
I'll bite I guess, even tho it looks like few care.
First off. That was a bad hit that deserved a suspension. Although I personally think one game would be adequate. I guess because Ekblad got injured they tacked on one or two due to the rules.
Hendricks is not a dirty player.
Ekblad put himself in a vulnerable position by turning his back.
It just wasn't THAT bad a hit.
I do believe the hit on Hall was more predatory than Hendricks', albeit clean. And I agree that the passer was the person most at fault.
The hit was retaliatory in that the game was escalating and Hendricks wanted to rise to the occasion. To say it was star for star, targeted, or malicious is silly. The officiating was letting everything go in that game, so they were partly responsible as well IMO.
As an Oiler fan I've been on the receiving end of too many of these o keep track of, and as much as it sucks its just part of the game. - Aerchon
I'd agree if he turned his back just before the hit, but Hendricks was looking at numbers all the way from the blueline. The fact that he left his feet was also pretty poopty.
Anywho, what's done is done. I just don't think a couple of games is enough in any spendable case. Doesn't act as much of a deterrent if you ask me |

All head shots and predatory hits need to be taken out of the game but despite the measures taken it's still very much a part of the game.
Ekblad seen him coming and if Hendricks didn't hit him in that situation he would not be doing his job. You finish your checks in the NHL if your a bottom 6 forward that wants to stay in the NHL. Ekblad most certainly should not have kept his back to Hendricks in that situation. Too many young players have a habit of doing that, maybe to draw a penalty or they think it protects them.
But yes it was bad, yes he did deserve a suspension, yes he should not have left his feet. |

What is he supposed to do?
The overall problem is turning your back should protect you, but so many guys don't just go for the clean hit. Instead, they see a player in a vulnerable position and go for that little extra on those types of hits, which leads to injuries like this.
The hits with the little bit extra should be punished with severity and only then would the assortment of clowns stop. |

What the f*ck are you talking about? I guess Edm fans are just as ignorant as the team. The only perennial basement team is Edm, who seems to somehow magically win the damn lotto every year but seem to still suck year after year. Don't be mad at the fact that we have a great organization and our team is following suit. The hit on Hall was 110% clean!! Totally clean and legal. Hendricks hit on Ekblad was 120% dirty and cheap. If you want to "get retaliation" on a hit, then Hendricks can be a man and step to Gudbranson, who laid the hit on Hall, and not be a b*tch and blindside our best Dman.
F*ck you!
F*ck Edm!
I hope you and your team enjoy our beaches in the spring time during the playoff race, as well as a few rounds of gulf. we'll send our love from the playoffs - pantherfan12
When they move the Panthers to Quebec will they keep the name or go back to using the Nordiques ?

Why should they be embarrassed? Hendricks,Edm, and the NHL officials are the ones who are an embarrassment. Edm is a cheap, dirty team, which is why they are always dead last in the league. The NHL officials are an embarrassment with their constant missed/bad calls.
Campbell isn't a fighter, period! Shaw dropped the gloves with Hendricks and I'm sure Thornton will mess his face up come Monday, if Hendricks is playing. I am almost positive that Campbell (not that he would've fought) was expecting a 5 min boarding major, and game misconduct and was waiting for the call (that was not made)
Who are they going to get in trade deadline ,and why would they get a fighter and a goon instead of offensive help??? We have Thornton, Gudbranson, and Petrovic who can drop the gloves, as well as other players who are willing to drop the gloves if need be. We need more scorers, especially for a playoff run. - pantherfan12
Cheap dirty team ? Are you high ? Kinda funny how you're team sparked a bench brawl when Shawn Thornton made a classy comment about Rick Rypien. |

I wish the oilers sucked cuz they were a cheap, dirty team, at least then they'd be fun to watch. They suck because there defence and bottom six are brutal if you ever watched the oilers play you would know that they are a very soft team, with no history of Being dirty.. |

It's comical to see the only people trying to justify the hit is oiler fans. The hit on Hall was as clean as it gets and if you need "pay back" for the hit why wouldn't you go after gudbranson? Probably because gudbranson would beat his ass like he does everyone else. I really hope someone pays Hendricks a visit on Monday, the guy is a goon and has been doing poop like this for years! |

I cant understand how people justify a dirty hit as long as its within the rules. A predatory hit can still be within the rules. A human being should not target a player with a hit that could end his career simply because hes got his head down. Its needless. If the guy has his head down its just as easy to take the puck off him, there is no need to crush a guy. Within the rules or not. With that said, Hendricks was letting them know that targeting oilers star players will have consequences and im sure they got the point. |

Dude watch the replay, he went to poke check the puck following through with a "body check" their was nothing dirty about that. When you have a player like Hendricks out there just to hurt a player it becomes down right sad. The oilers came into that game with that kinda mind set and it showed during the game. |

DT needs to package Piri and a first and possibly another prospect for a scoring winger it's getting to be quite annoying watching this team get out shot every night. |

"A player like Hendricks"... what in the (frank) are you talking about?
Again, it is painfully obvious that you don't follow hockey... in fact I'll contend that you had not even heard of Matt Hendricks until this hit. He does not have a reputation for this type of behaviour and if you believe that he does then their is no point in discussing the matter further.
Have fun in the hockey hot bed of Sunrise. |

First the spelling is golf
Secondly, Panthers fans are the last ones who should be mudslinging at other franchises. That team has never done anything ever. I'm not about to sit here and say that i'm happy with the way the last 10 years has gone for the Oilers but talk when you get 5000 fans out to every game for a year straight before criticizing any other organization. Oh yeah and in that 10 year time frame, the worst decade in Oilers history. We have still played in more playoff games than the Panthers |

Stfu already, that stereotype is played out.. Oh I must not watch hockey because I'm from south Florida, right? Lol your a clown. I've know Hendricks since he got drafted by the preds and he's played this type of game since he was with the capitals. Oh, but I'm sure you didn't know that until the oilers acquired him. Have fun with your lottery pick |
