After that Simmonds goal to tie the game, Simmonds and Voracek are behind the net celebrating and Giroux jumps in so excited it was like he was a little kid seeing his parents after 3 years.

I love seeing that kind of emotion from the Captain, that is when you know he is on.

- MBFlyerfan

I am a big fan of Giroux. Very glad he is a Flyer.

Also have to give big credit to the defense core. They are a bunch of rag-tag guys but they for the most part are getting it done. The PK needs work. Looking at Lappy.

I've played Flyers jersey numbers plenty of times in the lottery.

If only I would have come up with Ashbee, Recchi, Renberg, Hextall, Vanbiesbrouck, and Leclair yesterday. It seems so simple now.

C'mon, you know they'd never let the Flyers win the lottery!!!!

It's amazing to me that we are beating teams who would be in the playoffs today and that our record is above 500 with the cast of players we choose to keep around.

Brandon Manning took the same penalty RJ Umberger took just a game prior by trying to knocking the puck out of the air, which leads to a delay of game. Maybe I'm being unfair but I thought he could have wacked it low and in the corner.

Nick Schultz had a good season a year ago but there was no way he was ever going to have a repeat. Myself and Feanor always argued about this last summer, I never understood what there was to argue about on the subject of Schultz. Defensively I don't know how long Del Zotto and Gudas will last as we heavily rely on them but I have to believe it won't be beyond this season.

Someone pointed out that RJ Umberger has been good the last stretch of games. No he really hasn't. He cannot put away has chances. Prior to this game, was take penalties at the worst of times. The guy will never see special teams again because he brings nothing.

Chris Vandevelde really showed what he is last night. Most certainly not an offensive threat on the rush or when wide open nets are concerned. I mean, Ryan White looked dangerous all night but Vandevelde would deflat the play.

This is all without bringing up Sam Gagner and Andrew MacDonald playing in the minors. Really, you look at these names and what they're doing but somehow we are still putting together a nice stretch.

Milbury's hatred for the Flyers organization mirrors the feelings of the NHL towards the Flyers...Broad Street Bullies and throwing snowballs at Santa will never be forgotten

I for the most part am okay with VDV. He should be a 4th line player that gets fourth line minutes. In that role, I think he would be a solid player.

Although upgrades as always, need to be looked at. For all the talk of how good defensively those guys on the bottom lines are, the PK blows. I am enjoying them playing well right now, the little things are nice after these last few years.

Huge win. Don't want to give up points to a team you're trying to leap in the standings. Nice to see your stars playing like stars.

I was at the game, but it's no surprise reading the posts to see Millbury rant on Mason. Almost like the guy needs a 0.00 GAA to keep that clown off his back.

- Pelle31Forever

I think there is too much sensitivity and too much stalk into what Mike Milbury says around here. The game has passed him and he clearly has lost gaps in his memory over time when it comes to Steve Mason.

That drop pass was something you do in pee wee. VdV just isn't a good NHL hockey player.

Missed the game, and damn seemed like a good one to catch.

Always happy seeing that Giroux grin after a goal scoring sequence.

I am not really a fan of Hak, but for overall team play, have to give credit where it is due.

- flyer_nutter

Im starting to be impressed by Hak. I really like the breakouts and how their using the d more bringing the puck up the ice. I feel like they have options where berubes team was screwed if they couldn't get it up the boards.

Like Bill said. A top 5 team in GA in the league in evens this year. Impressive.

NHL is so weird though. Didn't the pens look great most of last year under Johnston and look what happened to them. As a coach I feel like once the players decide to tune you out you are toast, no matter what the reasons are or the previous success you've had

I think I've been spoiled with the 4th lines we've had over the years. I think this 4th line is the weakest we've ever had since I've been a Flyers fan. Past 4th lines were also an offensive threat. They didn't contribute nightly but somehow Ryan White is the most threatening of the three most nights.

Hak's golden UND boy. I'm not generally a conspiracy guy, but I really do believe he keeps him in due to being a former "good soldier" in college.

The Pens looked like crap under Johnston. Sullivan has them playing much, much better.

HUH? I was watching the game last night thinking the exact opposite. I like that we can put them out against any line the other team throws out there. They are always hemming the opposition in their own zone. Agree to disagree.

I don't know, the mix of York/Afanesenkov/Eager/Potulny/Fedoruk is 06/07 was pretty abysmal. This group might not score a ton and play too much, but PEB and White are legit 4th liners.

Sorry I meant last year. They looked damn good under him most of last year.

What Im saying is, lots of teams can play well for a coach for one year. The trick is to sustain the message.

NHL coaches have short shelf lives, no doubt. As a coach, you have to toe the line between making players accountable without suffocating their games while having the players realize their gains on the ice. A big part of that also falls on the locker room leadership.

I think he wants that line to play a certain style. Fair to say VDV fits haks description for the assignments Hak wants carried out under that line rather than a gagner, cousins, etc.
