Meaner Coburn with a heavier shot, but not as good defensively and only playing the left side.
- Feanor

No that Coburn was bad defensively, but I hope that Morin becomes a better player than Coburn defensively.

I think you're interpretation is incorrect. As soon as Schenn dropped the gloves first, there is no instigator penalty to Miller.

It absolutely is relative to discuss Miller's actions on the play, and if his actions on the play, before the fight happened, warranted a penalty of any kind, including instigation. It's what the entire discussion is about. Millers actions.

It's impossible to eliminate an opinion, because what the letter of the law is, requires an interpretation. I can only offer an opinion, in my opinion, by the letter of the law, there should not have been a penalty other than the 5 minute majors to each player for fighting.

In any altercation on the ice, players will travel a distance. Doesn't make it a penalty. Miller did not retaliate before the fight. I do not think that skating over and giving a nudge with his stick to Schenn, reaches the level of retaliation.

You're incorrect. I did not ignore anything, in fact, I considered all of it, in reaching my opinion on the subject. I considered every aspect of the rule, in forming my opinion.

Jesus Christ, there was no instigator because Schenn dropped his gloves before Miller did. It is (frank)ing obvious. I can't believe we are spending 15 pages on this.

Schenn had a choice. Miller gave him the choice. Case closed. No instigator.

Can he be our Tyler Johnson/Marty St. Louis, but on defense?
- jmatchett383

He's as tall of both of them put together.

Seriously...except he's like the opposite end of the size spectrum. He is completely outperforming Morin's D+1 year. And he's right handed. Can he be out Mark Giordano perhaps?

If I"m not mistaken there aren't many prospects on that list from the 2013 draft. Drafting # 11, I'd like to draft more of a "sure thing" if that really exists. Morin is a project, but based on his size, I guess he was worth the gamble. I haven't seen him play often, but I don't have a good feeling about where he projects.
- PLindbergh31

Pulock was considered more of a sure thing. Morin has a higher ceiling, but also a lower floor.

I'm surprised Pulock hasn't been called up with the Islanders injury crisis on defense. He's 21 and has already played almost 100 AHL games, but I guess they're being patient.

Coburn was a great defender. His mistakes tended to be more when he had the puck.

Yup like this Phillips Myers undrafted signing is turning up roses. Kid is 6'5" 205.

40 GP 30 pts +28. undrafted! How did he get through?

- Just5

Let's hope he turns into their Colton Parayko.

Gotta have someone to shoot the puck at the other team as they congratulate their goalie after they've beaten you.

Yeah I mean there are definitely guys you trust more or have similar views/rankings...but its not like you can get mad about it. At least they are different. I dont think Aho is #10 but whatever...I dont think he shouldve fallen that far in the draft either

I also didnt really do much research on it , but from memory, Lindblom was drafted the latest of all of those guys in the top 50. Should be happier about that than anything IMO. Very good value from a 5th rounder so far from Hexy

Blair Betts was better than Adam Hall in my opinion. Solid at the dot even with a bad shoulder. I never was afraid to have him on the ice. Never!

I don't think I would label Coburn great in anyway. I think he was a solid mobile defenseman. I just have higher hopes for Morin, and that's all they are, hopes.

When anything not involving winning a faceoff was involved...I guess he was also good at getting jumped by Brian Turtle Boyle, too.

Morin probably won't see much PP time with the stable of young dmen the Flyers have. Will he be a 20 point guy?

I think so. I'm hoping for a slightly less offensively gifted Derian Hatcher.

Probably not.

I see him likely ending up a Mike Komisarek type... maybe handle top-line minutes with all All-Star partner, play a ton of minutes, but more of a cog than a catalyst.

Where's Schultz? He's played 1000 games which means he's really good. We can't lose a guy like that.

Well that's his absolute top ceiling, but in reality, he probably won't have a french-er accent if we want to be honest with ourselves.

If Morin ends up playing against the other teams best players while maintaining a 50% CF and chipping in 15 ES points then, to me, that would be great, and that's what Coburn did for the most part.
