My view is that I think this team already has a defenseman that is going to be a top offensive defenseman in this league, in Gostisbehere. I think they need at least one of Provorov or Sanheim to develop into one of those 2 way top pairing minute eaters that every team needs. - MJL
Yeah, I think it's reasonable to expect those two to make it as 2-way guys.
I think they could stand to draft another dman in that mold... to hedge their bets against Morin (who knows were he'll end up)... preferably a guy who's RH.
Fabbro might fit the bill, but I'd rather take Bean or Sergachev if they're available. |

Let's get down to it. Part of your argument on this play was an instigation pentalty should not be called, which I personally agree with for reasons that I stated a while ago, BUT the letter of the law state that it is, which you seem to ignore.
Answer these questions:
Did Miller travel a distance?
Did Miller respond in retaliation to a prior game incident?
If you say yes to either one of those, then he should have gotten a penalty by the letter of the law. Even if you don't, you're wrong and the answer is still he should have gotten a penalty by the letter of the law because he did travel a distance and he did respond to a prior game incident.
ALSO, Your contention was if there wasn't a fight, then there wouldn't be a penalty called which you can't say to be fact because you don't know what would have happened.
It is also different part of the discussion that you are offering now. Since you are not sticking to the discussion, why should I? - VladDrag

True. Major is the short-term goal, but General is the dream. |

Let's be honest; this organization has a nice pool of prospects right now, but given their history, they could stand to have more talented guys in the organization.
The notion of drafting a blue chipper and getting him right into the NHL lineup right away has to go. Staying in juniors or the AHL isn't gonna kill these guys. |

I didn't ignore anything. I don't think it met the level of deserving an instigation penalty. Miller did not retaliate. The fight was an obvious agreement between two players to fight, with Schenn actually moving to drop his gloves first. I expanded on my opinion on that, multiple times. That's how the refs saw the play, and I agree with them.
ALSO, Your contention was if there wasn't a fight, then there wouldn't be a penalty called which you can't say to be fact because you don't know what would have happened.

I'm not asking you to state what may have happened, if they didn't fight. I'm asking you a simple question of based on what happened, and if any of Miller's actions before the fight deserved a penalty?
Lastly, what have I offered that isn't relative to the play? So what are you talking about? You can discuss any part of the altercation you want, and I'll be happy to discuss it. Nor have I tried to limit you or anyone else to which "parts" of the discussion they can talk about, so again, what are you talking about? |

Yeah, Pronman's like Button, he bases his rankings more on his own observations, more than just polling a bunch of scouts and aggregating their opinions.
Sanheim was in the top-50 last season right? It's interesting how everybody's jumped off his bandwagon after a few people started to question his progress w/o the puck. - Tomahawk
His WJ performance to me was scary. There was one time where a Danish forward one on one just took the puck right through sanheim pushing him out of the way and getting a shot off. I've got major concerns with how his junior team is handling too, putting the onus on him to lead their offense. His highlights he looks like he's playing the rover position |

I think given the history of prospects in general, it's always nice to have more talented guys in the depth chart, no matter who we have.
I don't think the notion has to go completely, and I know I asked tomahawk that question, but I understand exactly where you are coming from. I would much rather follow Detroit's method for developing than Edmonton's. What I'm saying is if, for example, Provorov comes in and absolutely demands a roster spot based on his on ice efforts, then give it to him.

iirc, Pronman has never been a huge Morin/Sanheim fan. Not sure where he had Sanheim, but I feel like it was in the 60s or 70s. |

Look here, Petty Officer Sarcasm: The simple fact is that I am Captain Sarcasm. It doesn't matter what your friend wrote in your yearbook, because that's all hyperbole and heresay. In truth, your can't say that you didn't write that yourself when no one was looking, so erroneously proclaiming yourself Captain Sarcasm is a matter of opinion. We're here discussing the facts, ad I'm right. |
