I'm actually surprised, that a head coach would say such things, in public.
I guess $50m doesn't buy you brains. |

It's not bad, I mean he wasn't in their system, Toronto has guys flying in and out of there right now with clune, boyes, etc etc
Corrado is still a pretty obscure prospect. |

Yeah, but for a coach to say he has no idea who he is, that they used a loophole in the system to get him games, and that he hoped to work him in now but still can't. Makes the GM look dumb.
Better if he just said nothing... |

So, I don't mean to sound like a whiner, but COrrado is still yet to play a game for the Leafs, did a conditioning stint (7 games I think) after an entire summer of training. He was recalled Nov 5th, did not play versus Detroit or Washington. At what point do the Leafs admit they made a mistake and have to pay compensation? - 1970vintage
Compensation? They would just be forced to waive him and we get first crack at him...
Is there a rule forcing them to play him or can they just scratch him as an extra every game? |

Yeah but Like I said he is still obscure. 24 total NHL games and he isn't waiver eligible is very weird.
All of the following are still in front of him in the pecking order. He isn't even listed on their NHL site roster.
Jake Gardiner
Peter Grannberg
Scott Harrington
Matt Hunwick
Martin Maincin
Dion Phaneuf
Roman Polak
Morgan Reilly
Stephane Robidas
Plus he has the AHL guys
I'm still not sure what the heck that loophole was. I mean he wasn't injured or he wouldn't have been allowed to be placed on waivers in the first place.

I think they could technically just scratch him every game. The compensation thing was just wishful thinking. |

I'm not suggesting he's a known quantity, but for an NHL head coach for a team who acquired a player more then a month ago to say he has no idea who this guy is is shameful to me. Benning has a depth chart for every other team in the league pinned to the wall in his office, I'm sure he knows who the guys playing for the Marlies are right now. |

Yeah but that's Benning
Not Desjardins. I'm sure Lou Lamoniello knew who he was. |

actually, you know what, getting paid $50m, to me, means you know your poop. He should know every player who is NHL eligible, and playing in North America. |

They can scratch him every game of the year if they want, they're paying him, they're wasting him.
I wonder if they put him back on waivers and we pick him can he go straight to Utica. |

It's insightful so I am happy he said it. I am sure he must be quite a personality now that he is getting mad cash and just got named to coach the World Cup team also.
Canucks would get him back first I think

No he goes back to his original team . Another team can still then claim him from Canucks if they send him down .
What Canucks should do is offer sheet Morgan Reilly for a 7 years 7 .3 mil ( first second third) force TO to match . Eat up their cap space on a bridge deal. Or if you are serious about Reilly as a number one D man in Vancouver offer him 9 mil and give up 2 firsts and a third. I am not sure he is worth it but I see him like Duncan Keith and we have the cap space.

If JB did that, SN/CBC/TSN would all go up in flames... it would be beautiful. The vitriol spewing from all those talking heads would be beyond belief, there'd be rioting on Bay Street and all life as we know it would end in Toronto with children crying, cat and dogs living together, mass hysteria. |

I wonder if they are actually tougher to play against?
Out - Bieksa, Matthais, Richardson, Kassian
In - Hutton, Virtanen, McCann, Prust
Let's call Prust an upgrade on Bieksa, but the rest looks like a wash to me, or worse. - 1970vintage
With all of Dorsett, Prust and Virtanen in the lineup we are for sure tougher to play against IMO. But Prust is out and that sucks.
Bieksa and Kassian only fought when it served their purpose in their last few seasons so really the tough guy moniker from them was waning. Matthias and Richardson were creampuffs for the most part. Matthias never used his size and even though Richardson at times played tough it wasn't his role...or Matthias'. I would give Richardson much more credit than Matthias in this regard. |

Burkie may do it for a little payback also or the Wings or Buffalo. Leafs have been leaving a trail of enemies |

"what we did is, because we brought him in and we didn't know who he was, but the pro scouts knew who he was....... I mean I have absolutely no clue who he is. So they bring him here so I can put him in the lineup right away, but I had a whole bunch of guys who wanted to go into the lineup, we used some loophole in the rule to get him some hockey and we hope we could catch him after that but we still have a backlog.""
-- Mike Babcock yesterday
I'm not sure what the hell he is saying but by the sounds of it, they didn't think this through, and most teams have literally a day to make the decision on waivers. - classic321
this is some serious bullshiite.
they haven't even watched him play and they have a backlog... Nux should get on the horn and either get the player back or get paid... |

In the end the Canucks put him on waivers and kept weber so they are guilty IMO.
The leaugue should recognize that something is not correct and step in but since shanadog is licking @ss in NYC with Lou lame they get away with it. Just imagine te officiating if the leafs ever make the second round..... |

Agreed - Joel Quinville would be a better choice but he got the DUI and isn't the cuddly type for the cameras |

True, but if the leafs hadn't claimed him he may well have cleared waivers or gone to a team that could actually use him. if no one claimed, we might have been able to call him up with the injuries on the d.... so really the leafs are preventing another club from using what could be a useful asset for them.
i'm sure the NHLPA at some point will wonder why a player isn't playing after being claimed on waivers since the point is to keep players active and playing instead of withering on the vine. |

The Leafs aren't breaking any rules . They are just being dycks. The best way to deal with a Dyck is to kick it in the nuts. Payback . |

100%, Q is a better coach. best in the league IMO. outcoaches other teams in playoff series after making adjustments both in game and between games. something AV, Crawford, slick Willie have shown they can't do when it really counts... |

i like the offer sheet idea. just pick off the one real asset the leafs have going forward or hamstring them. |
