There will be lots of close ups of Torts. I hope that Marwood is well medicated. |

I hope they don't make it too much into a side show.

you dont appreciate what you have, as a genaeral statement, until it's gone. Edler is the best defensemen the Canucks have ever had, like it or not, and they'd be worse without him. Is he a true 1/2, no, but he's better than every other dman on the team. - LeftCoaster
That is a bold statement my friend! |

You do realize I was being facetious about "stats", I know there are people that love, eat, sleep and worship stats, I'm not one.
I don't like Edlers style of play, if people can complain about, Sbisa, Weber, Vrbata, Prust, Miller...etc., then I can point out Edler sucks - Makita
Good blog (for a guy who doesn't like stats) over at CA about what Benning would have seen at his recent scouting mission at OHL games. |

Man, I hope WD starts Dorsett, Cracknell, who the F else would drop the gloves? Call up some mussel, just to see Torts lose his poop. |

Over under on the number of times the announcers point out how committed Columbus is to shot blocking? |

Unless we are calling up Pedan, we don't have much muscle to call up...
I hope the team plays with some pace, don't really want a physical game and more injuries...

I'm just kidding, would much rather avoid a meltdown. With Prust out of the lineup, we're back to one sheriff. We don't even have a particularly physical d-man. |

With Dorsett and Virtanen spending time in the box yesterday, was starting to wonder who would step up if things got rough.
Biega might have been the most physical of the dmen in the lineup...
Noticed Vrbata getting knocked down, next to the net at the whistle and saw I guess it was Daniel, just skating away... weird chemistry with the Sedins and Vrbata.
Team still isn't built for the physical play, especially with Sbisa and Prust out of the lineup. |

I wonder if they are actually tougher to play against?
Out - Bieksa, Matthais, Richardson, Kassian
In - Hutton, Virtanen, McCann, Prust
Let's call Prust an upgrade on Bieksa, but the rest looks like a wash to me, or worse. |

So, I don't mean to sound like a whiner, but COrrado is still yet to play a game for the Leafs, did a conditioning stint (7 games I think) after an entire summer of training. He was recalled Nov 5th, did not play versus Detroit or Washington. At what point do the Leafs admit they made a mistake and have to pay compensation? |

Funny how that worked out.
I agree, I like the change, and the direction the team has been taking. I'm not a Benningbaby lover, but I appreciate what he's trying to accomplish, I like that he's taking risks and so far they're paying off. Would love to see some extra picks recouped this year, even if they are pushing for the playoffs, I think there's some kids on the farm who could fill in admirably for the departed Higgins/Hamhuis/Vrbata/Burrows/Hansen/Miller/whoever they choose to move. - 1970vintage
Team in transition. Losing so many games by 1 goal is depressing, but also shows we are right there too. I hope we are clearly in it or out at the tdl. |

""what we did is, because we brought him in and we didn't know who he was, but the pro scouts knew who he was....... I mean I have absolutely no clue who he is. So they bring him here so I can put him in the lineup right away, but I had a whole bunch of guys who wanted to go into the lineup, we used some loophole in the rule to get him some hockey and we hope we could catch him after that but we still have a backlog.""
-- Mike Babcock yesterday
I'm not sure what the hell he is saying but by the sounds of it, they didn't think this through, and most teams have literally a day to make the decision on waivers. |

Kinda makes you feel sorry for him, but he just didnt deliver when he had the chance. That said he chnaces were too short.
I sense a pending florida trade |

Roman Polak I think will be traded in the next week. Possibly Chicago.
The only person preventing them from trading players is Babcock as he loves veterans. |

Is that an actual quote from Babcock? Does not inspire confidence. If he hand't been claimed on waivers, he'd probably be playing for the Canucks right now.
Edit - maybe Toronto's pro scouts read Esplen's blogs, and figured they had an Olympic Team Canada quality defender? |
