Bowey led the Rockets. Not Leon.

Mact opted not to make a trade that was available, on the table, and a good deal?
For who?
Link?

Never heard that. Possible tho.

What we do know for sure is that both jokinen and Roy said they were contacted prior to the season, but declined.

Seems odd he would contact a couple aging vets running out of options, but refuse a solid trade that would achieve the same ends...

Either way, Leon's a Fukin beaut and has exactly the type of size and skill set we need in a skill position.
If He turns out it makes it possible to deal nuge for a big piece/need as well going forward.

Interesting and completely unbiased commentary from the... Washington fan...

Lots of good players on that team but Leon still IMO "carried" that team more so than any other player. When Leon struggled that team struggled. He always had to face all the top opposition/defensive pairings.

Just junior but damn did Leon look awesome.

Debateable I suppose.
He led the team in scoring after being acquired and coach said he was their best two way forward as well.
And won the whl playoff and memorial cup mvp.

So yeah, tough to argue against him

TSN 1260 reported that a deal for Roy with Joenssu going back was available very early in the year but Eakins vetoed the deal. That's on both MacT and Eakins.

It will be very interesting to see who will be the best forward in that draft. I wish they didnt rush him in nhl. He still has very bright future in the NHL.

best forward is relative.

from the extremely small sample size ive seen of bennet, I think hes gonna be a gamer. I could see him outscoring leon over time. he seems a little more dynamic to leons slow down, control the pace style.

but even a ten point difference wouldnt matter in the least if leon is able to use that frame and downlow game to control possession, draw defenders and create space for the other smaller skilled oiler forwards. in a perfect world id say hes the ideal 2c behind mcdavid at 1c.

the oilers chose the best guy for them under pretty much any scenario unless we're talking 20+ pt difference yearly between the 2 aforementioned kids.

as far as rushing him, I don't think his struggles last year in the show are gonna make 1 iota of difference.
in fact, considering how much he dominated when he went back to junior while clearly showing no issues of lost confidence, getting that head start in terms of what to expect in the pros will probably help immediately

the oilers aren't actually any good until they are, so I aint gonn make any silly predictions. but it stokes me out that a guy of his caliber is actually only our 3rd best prospect

So Ek mentioning mentioning Oilers as 1 of 4 teams in on Franson. Is this good, bad or jerking Oiler fans around?

Jerking us around, although I can't see how it would be bad. Franson isn't the perfect fit by any means, but when you have guys like Nikitin probably making the team then you have to look at a guy like Franson

we probably are.

we've finally got some real nhl caliber depth, but are still pretty weak in terms of actual talent (the nurse's-reinharts notwithstanding of course as theyre just kids and total question marks at this point)

franson is way overrated by many imo and has some real holes in his game. but he makes our top 6 without a doubt and has some solid offensive abilities.

1 year deal and we're able move nikitin...... im down

I can't remember where, but I read something about a two year deal. I'd even be fine with that if it's 3mil or less.

Put him and Schultz on PP#1 and juice their numbers up and you should be able to move one

He would be one of your best defense man on your team. sekera might be number one but he is pretty close to same player as him. He is one of the best PP play dman in the league. I read an article saying he is 6th (i believe) in PP points per hour over last 5 years. Number one was Nicklas Lidstrom. He will not save you on defense but your team is run gone type of team. I think he would be perfect fit.

Im hesitant at anything over a year, but it'll prob take the 2 years for him to accept coming to edm.
at a cap friendly number like u mentioned, I wouldn't be too sour at multiple years.

anything 4 and up at more than a year and I wont be pleased.
take that as my one warning chiarelli!!
