He would be one of your best defense man on your team. sekera might be number one but he is pretty close to same player as him. He is one of the best PP play dman in the league. I read an article saying he is 6th (i believe) in PP points per hour over last 5 years. Number one was Nicklas Lidstrom. He will not save you on defense but your team is run gone type of team. I think he would be perfect fit. - Bigdog1991
sekera is certainly a huge stretch as a 1, but hes far more polished defensively than franson is. and the fact that he (sekera) also isn't useless offensively makes him far better than cody franson imo. AS is a solid two way defender. I don't think theyre the same player at all. cody has size at least, but hes pretty ugly without the puck.
I also believe klefbom has the superior two way skills. and whether it be this year or beyond, he'll be the superior defender in relation to cody.
I even think Schultz has better offensive instincts than CF and has a higher ceiling points wise. its just too bad hes so weak without the puck. all that said, "one of our best defenders", is very relative and depends on a bunch of things.
easy starts and tons of pp time cody makes us better. lean on him too heavily and we're fuked |

I take it you are single. A wife might not have a sense of humour if you brought her home a gift like that. |

In my mind there is no other team in the NHL with a stronger group of prospects than the Oilers, especially with McJesus added to the mix.
It's not a question of whether you will win a Cup in the next few years, it's a question about how many and fitting the salaries under the cap in the future.
On another topic, some people have Marincin rated as a good prospect. Haven't seem him play much, is he any good? |

A lot of people are divided on Marincin. I am not one of them. I absolutely love the kid's game. He uses smart positioning and an extremely active stick to deny easy zone entry. Every player he is paired with does better in their roles. He was one of the very best possession players for the Oilers when he was not employed on the defensive zone only shutdown pair. He's young enough to still develop and he can obviously get stronger but the Oilers lost that trade by a wide margin in my eyes. If you can appreciate subtleties in defenders then you will like him. If you want bonecrushing and lots of points you will be left wanting. |

Thanks, strange they would let him go for not much. Hope he works out for us. |

I think Leon will embrace the role of winger this season and be a beast creating space for his linemates... I have been a big supporter of Leon and feel this team will start appreciating his skillset... With much of the team this year it will depend on Mclellan and the coaching staff... Its another new coach scenario... Hope the players listen this time and they enough success early on to buy in... |

He impressed as a rookie but oddly enough- regressed progressively- not sure if it was the coaching and or linemates - the org obviously felt it was the player... |

It's really a double edge sword though. One PC has no ties to the guy, second he saw an opportunity to get a guy in Gryba in return for Marincin. A guy he has seen quite a bit of.
The other key to this whole situation is what the mouth piece Bob Stauffer has brought up numerous times. He has been asked quite a bit by fans who other teams are looking at or asking about from the Oilers. On numerous occasions he has scouts and other management guys ask him what's with this Marincin guy? The question has been we've heard so much about this kid and how he looked like a good piece for you guys, but how come he is struggling and falling out with the Oil.
Scouts were scouting this guy a lot and obviously no one really liked him.
It's not like we were being offered a lot for the guy and took a lesser deal. |

It's crazy how similar the Sabres and Oilers situations are, I'm excited to see how both organizations play out. Who is the AHL affiliate for you guys? |
