"He didn't want to be here" - Charlie.Conway
Its about "wanting to be a bruin" and he "wasn't comfortable" all the time. |

He scored too many goals and made the other players feel bad... We had to let him go. But we did get John Scott, a B level prospect and a 6th round choice for him so I believe we did well. |

All the same though, Sweeney has done very well since the Dougie move. If he didn't make that trade he would be looked at right now like one of the best new GM's around. The Dougie move just put a real tarnish on him (rightfully so)
But some awesome moved. 2 firsts and a great D spec plus another spec for Lucic
Signing Beleksey way under what was anticipated his "market value"
Moving Smith AND Savard while getting a nice player in return
Signing Hayes, Connolly & Spooner for peanuts
Got this team out of a miserable cap hell and didn't hand out NMC like t was candy on Halloween |

I agree with you. He has made some excellent moves. But after this last draft, our drafting doesnt exactly inspire a lot of confidence, especially with first round picks.
So on one hand, two prospects and two first rounders for Lucic is great. On the other hand, not exactly excited about who we might get. Zboril was the first player selected with this years acquired first rounder. While it isnt a terrible pick, there were MUCH better players on the board.
And if we are picking anywhere past the top 10 next year with either of our picks, I am not exactly giving my entire vote of confidence to our scouting staff after this years performance. 2016 has a much shallower offering of elite talent.

Love it. Great contracts. I hope Connolly breaks out for 25+ goals this year and is due a big raise next year.
Now sign Oduya for 2 years / 8 Mill and I'll be ready for the start of the season! |

How can you label our draft a failure.... TWO WEEKS after it took place? The position that players were drafted barely matters. Look at Connolly drafted 6th overall..... would that happen today if there was a redraft for that year? Or how about Pastrnak last year? If the 2014 draft took place again, Pasta would be top 5. Lets check in on this in two years when these players grow more before we label it anything....

Failure? Where did I use that word?
I believe in the model of taking the best player available. We, did not do that. This draft could have been MUCH better is what I am saying. |

For defense which the Bruins need, Zboril, was the best available pick after Provorov and Werenski. Hopefully you'll see him push his way into the roster next season.
DeBrusk and Senyshyn are longer shots to me. Probably won't help for 2+ years. |

Zboril was a decent pick for what was available. Given that we had three in a row, I can understand using ONE of them on an organizational need. I had them taking Zboril with #15 and taking Barzal and Connor before him.
Edit: at #14, would have been much happier with Connor, Boeser, Svechnikov, merkley, or Konecky all over DeBrusk or Senyshyn |

I love the Zboril pick, seen him play a lot this year as I have season tix to the Moncton Wildcats and they see the Sea Dogs a lot. He will be a great player IMO.
I would have liked to see Barzal and Connor taken rather than who we took, but you never really know. I also think we got good picks in the latter few rounds. Also, can't pin all the drafting on DS as Gretzky takes the reigns on that one |

Agreed on Connor and Barzal. I thought Carlo was a steal in the second round. |

I think Zboril was a no brainer under the circumstances. I actually liked the debrusk pick. Best goal scorer left in the draft, supposedly plays a complete game/ battles hard and as far as i know he didnt have any elite guys spoon feeding him those goals. Maybe a Parise type? Senyshyn was a stretch though. The more i hear about him the more intrigued I am (heard edm traded from 16 cus they wanted him, scored a ton in a depth role) but you cant pass up on potential stars in Barzal and Connor for him, shoulda nabbed at least one of em |

Gunna have to keep our eyes on Senyshyn next year. With a bigger role on his club he could be a sleeper. With the time Sweeney spent in player development, one would hope he'd be able to spot potential. And our scouting staff are the ones responsible for drafting Pasta late in the 1st round. . .so maybe. |
