Verdict is still out on Pasta. I know that seems like an unpopular view, and I think he will be a stud.

But, with that said........can he jive in CJ system? Will he bulk up? If not is he injury prone? Will the NHL players find weaknesses and exploit them?

Again, his aditude alone makes me think he will almost certainly make it not only in the NHL but in the Bs organization.

He seems to REALLY LOVE hockey too.......and the fact that he immortalized Krejci.......he may actually accept a bridge type deal.

He seems to be more in line with a Bergy mold..............but it's only one season. Sophomore slump..........?

So we COULD fit Franson in at 5, but if we wanted anything else we would have to move some more salary.

there was some hints at Kelly's 3M salary being shed before the start of the season.... there's also the shadow talk of moving the 4M of Erickson as he's going into his last year of salary and hasn't turned in the numbers or play I think the Bruins wanted. he'd get a decent return and there's some bodies in Providence who can fill in the depth chart.

teams can be over the cap by a certain percentage in the offseason but then need to make sure they make the right moves prior to day 1. so they can do a lot of things right now.

A little late to the party, but I've been doing, you know... work stuff.

It's worth noting that that number from the HB Cap Central only factors in 12 forwards, 6 d-men, and 1 goalie.... So that's only the starting line up, and it's more than likely we would actually need to fit 3 more players in under our cap (backup goalie and 2 healthy scratches).

If we signed a top 4 d-man, one of the current d-men listed would be a healthy scratch. So if we were to pick up Franson at 5... we'd pretty much be (frank)ed I think. Because then we'd only have like $500k for a forward healthy scratch, and a backup goalie.

Lets say Smith plays backup to Tuukka ($600k) and then we were to call up Ferlin ($875k) thats almost $1.5 million, leaving only about $4million for a top 4 d-man? That doesn't seem to work. So either he's signing Franson for Beleskey money... or we're not signing Franson and we're looking to acquire someone else?

Smith is essentially all but good for the back up to rask this year, which makes sense given his good numbers last year and he'll see very limited starts. Between Rinaldo, Talbot, Kelly, Khoko and Joonas Kamppanen there is enough for health scratches on the cheap. in a dream world Sweeney trades rinaldo, Erickson and kelly to Toronto for JVR and then signs Franson..... #pipedream

Given Seids injuries, poor numbers and age now I think he's on the decline to being closer to 5 than top 4. he'll play top 4 for Boston because otpions are limtied but he's not the same German Machine he was before. he's already said he would waive his NTC if the bruins had a deal in place for him. I think they need to secure another top 4 Dman before moving seids though. Kelly and Mcquaid's contracts stink and should be moved. Mcquaids going to be LTIR at some point, the guys made of glass.

It will totally take everybody by surprise, and therefore is the right conclusion!

with trotman, k miller, c miller, do we really need another "depth" guy here? unless sweeney has a deal to move Seidenburgh and kelly then sign Oduya or Franson I don't see much sense in this? maybe he trades Mcquaid w/ Rinaldo as both those don't make sense for one reason or another.
