Every time i listen to Dale Arnold on WEEI I think back to the days of him and Kluzak calling the games. good times. They were no Cusick and Sanderson, but they were better than Edwards. - Charlie.Conway
I used to HATE Dale Arnold on the Bruins games... I've actually grown to like him a lot on the Dale and Holly show. I do really miss Gord Kluzak though... I like him doing the post game show.
Edit:Just look at that sick flow:

WOW Gord what the (frank) did Father Time do to your lettuce?
I think the better guy is on the radio. Dave Goucher does a fantastic job calling games for the Sports Hub. |

Everytime I hear the sound drop of his call from 2011 "Get the Duck Boats ready! The Bruins are Stanley Cup Champions" I get goose bumps and pee a little. |

So, Sweeney got a few days to take a breath after a flurry of activity. Forward core is set. Backup tender is a question mark as with the D.
Big question here, is Sweeney done? |

Not with 5M in cap to play with!!
I would love to see him go out and grab Franson if you can get him for 5M or under. More than that I wouldn't be sold on.
That and more I think about it I wouldn't mind them grabbing Fasth if you get him for 1M or less, could play 25 games and give Rask a little break |

After the first two days of free agency it has been pretty much a graveyard in the hockey world. Franson would be a nice pick up. Would rather him sign in the 4-4.5 range or less if it can be managed. If we are going to sign a goalie to backup rask, Fasth would really be the only goalie I would look at?
Any serviceable backups that could be traded for? |

I think Brickley actually does an awesome job with Jack. I think he genuinely doesn't like the guy, and thinks he's a cook... but he does a good job of managing his own hatred while he's in the booth. You can tell there's times where he thinks Jack is an idiot, because he doesn't even respond to him... he just lets out one of his little laughs.
That being said I have a very love/hate relationship with Jack. Half the time he's a complete moron, but he actually does do a good job with the play by play, and his passion, while most times he goes overboard, is appreciated. I've had the NHL Center Ice package for the past two years, and listening to other announcers around the league, I'm definitely happy that we have Edwards... most guys have the personality of a cardboard tube. - mixturebill
So true. I used to love it when the NHL Network would use the tv feed for the highlight package. Got to hear all the different anouncers. There were a few really good ones, but like you said, most are monotone and boring. As much of a homer Jack is, you can't knock his passion for the game. There have been many times he's pumped tires of opposing players after a great play. You can tell the guy LOVE hockey. Also, Cusick was THE BEST.

I was looking into that but dont see too many to be honest. Looking at teams with a decent young G coming up and then see what backup they have in place.
Almost weird but team jumps out is ANA and they now have Khudobin lol. But we need a backup thats on a 1M or so deal I would say |

Was looking at Calgary as well. They have Ortio up and coming who appears to be ready to at least be a backup. Would make hiller expendible (maybe if calgary retained half). Still is an expensive option.
ANA is a really curious situation. Why move to get Khudobin when you have Anderson and Gibson? Seems strange to me |

Yeah, I was checking out the teams too, and ANA does seem deep. However I heard Gibson (poor Gibson) was heading back to the AHL. Andersen will be their starter, and Khudobin their backup. It would be awesome to have Khudobin back, but I would guess that they would rather stick with Smith/Subban than committing $2+ million to a backup goalie. The team I was looking at was Washington... they seemed pretty deep in terms of #2 goalies on the cheap.
But Ek's post just said that Franson and the Bruins were close and it's a defcon E4 rumor! |

More so getting rid of Wiz I believe. But yes, Calgary owes Boston one, so they should given them Hillier with 3M retained LOL |

I mean other options could be peters from Washington, or Mazanek from NSH. Personally would rather just sign Fasth at that point.
Hiller makes 4.5 mil, so calgary could only retain 2.25, making his cap hit 2.25. Kind of an expensive backup but would certainly give rask a decent break during the year. 15-25 starts.
Edit: Also McElhinney from columbus |

Washington is def. a good one to look at but I think seeing they already traded Phoenix Copley to STL might be harder to get them to move another. Likely Holtby and Grubuaer in the NHL for them this year
EDIT* I like the news of Franson but scared of the amt of money they will offer. Obv has to be 5M or less but dang I dunno... We do need a Top 4 Dman in a hurting way though.

Does anyone else think the Krug's time in Boston is coming to close soon? Mquaid get's a term deal, Seids doesn't appeat to be going anywhere yet and neither is Chara. Bruins have some depth at Defense and Krug's going to be looking to cash in at the end of this season..... could spell bye bye to the little guy... |

They'll likely roll with smith as the back up this year and let subban and MacIntyre split time in Providence.... smith put up decent number is the A last year and Rask is likely going to play 60-65 games so no need to break the bank on a guy who's not going to play much more than 15 starts. |

Yeah, I don't see him really going anywhere either. Next year they will have extra cap space from Lucic's $2.75 million coming off the books. I don't see him getting a huge raise... maybe in the $4 million range? |
