Senyshyn wasn't making it out of the first round. If Chia didn't get him the Leafs would've. Time to put that one to bed. The more people who know what they were talking about talk about the pick the less of a reach it seems to be.
I haven't heard a negative comment from either Sweeney or Neely about Hamilton. So that's on the locker room or the coach if he wanted to go that badly.
But if Hamilton thought Julien was a hard ass and thinks he can go to the Flames and not take the body or not block shots or make blind passes up the middle of the ice and not be Hartley's whipping boy by Christmas he's got another thing coming.
Sweeney's done good if you ask me. Should've got more for Dougie but it is what it is. |

It's not bad at all. I really just find the Rinaldo move baffling. |

Meh, Senyshyn might have gone at the end of the first. So what. No excuse to pass on Barzal. Was a mistake.
Oh well though. Cant turn back time. Guess we get to watch the prospects we have and move forward. We will see what happens. I'm still not convinced. |

Well if you think about about the way things went down... Chia was part of this organization and our scouts are super high on Senyshyn... Chia gets canned and moves on to the Oilers... Bruins pick Senyshyn with 15th pick... and then with Barzal and Connor still on the board, the Oil bail on their 16th pick sending it to NYI. That does seem to show that the Oilers were hoping to land Senyshyn, and once he was gone they moved their pick.
...However that makes me wonder... we could have dealt that 15th pick to the Islanders for Reinhart... would you guys have done that, rather than take Senyshyn? Because he's closer to being NHL ready, and especially since we lost Dougie, wouldn't it have made sense to get a young D-Man with high potential to replace him? |

I see your point. It sounded more like the Isles wanted barzal than the oil wanting senyshyn. But i guess it could have gone either way. I thought the oilers gave up way too much for Reinhart. Having said that, if we drafted Barzal, then Connor, (frank) yes i would have traded the 15th (only that pick) for reinhart. But if Zboril and DeBrusk were the plan, then no I would not have, just because we already selected a D man. |

Even Doug 'the thug' Glatt scored a goal by parking his big ass in front of the net. Hayes will get PP time just for that. |

Someone said Chia seemed upset and immediately got on the phone when the Bruins picked Senyshyn at 15. I didn't watch the draft as I was in the process of moving but this is what I read. Take from that what you will.
Sweeney will either look like a genius or an idiot. Only time will tell.
I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you either about the picks and think that he should have taken either DeBrusk or Senyshyn and taken the safe pick with the other one but Gretzky had a hell of a draft last year by the looks of it so I'll take his word for it. For now. |

Hey the last time we got a player Panther fans considered an overrated lazy floater it ended up working out pretty good for us |

He wanted 3 million per year from the Cats. He took 2.3 a year from his hometown team. That's fair for both sides. |

Well in that case why dont we parade him out on the roster next year and completely ruin his development. Might as well take spite to the fullest extreme it can go.
On a positive note, my alcohol budget went up.

Between trading Hamilton to Calgary, Senyshyn and unloading Reilly Smith's ridiculous contract Sweeney and Neely have all but officially said (frank) you to Chia. I'm enjoying it even if it is all for naught it's a breath of fresh air. The last three summers have been painfully boring. |

Couldn't agree more... I was starting to think that free agency didn't exist anymore, and the Bruins roster was carved in stone and handed down by Jebus himself... Our team has felt stale for a few years now it was nice to shake things up a bit. No way to tell if it'll actually work other than to wait it out and see. But I've been enjoying this off season way more than the recent few years. |
